Chapter 38:The Return

Arabella pov
After telling Dragon-san about the mission, and how it went, I was immediate sent back to work. As per usual, I met up with our class as soon as I got here.

Taiyō grinned at me. "Well look who's back!"
Tsuki smirked at me. "Hey, good to see you."
"Hey you two. Did ya miss me?"
Taiyō rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Yeah, we did. Especially the kids. They missed you a whole bunch, including our pink Morning Star."
"Where is Amaya-chan anyway?"
"She's out with the other kids, practicing bow & arrow. In fact, she's really good at it." Tsuki added.

Right on cue, some kids started cheering. We three instructors turned our attention back to the kids, and we all grinned at the sight. There, Amaya was aiming her arrow at the target. I stared at all of the other targets, and found that a lot of them had hit their mark, or were either close to the mark. I smiled even more when Amaya shot the arrow, and shot it straight through the middle.

"Wow, Amaya! You're great at this!"
"I wanna be like you!"
"Teach me how to aim like that!"

I chuckled, and joined the group of kids.

"Guess who is back?"
They all stopped, and looked up at me. They started to hollar, and grabbed at me for hugs.
"Arabella-ne!"
"Yaaay you're back!"
"We missed yooooooou!"
"Tell us everything that happened! Did you & Chief-sama kiss?!"
I laughed. "Of course we did!"

They either went "Eeeewww!" Or "Cute! How romantic!" It was all actually kind of funny & adorable. Anyway, Amaya ran up to me, and grinned as soon as she saw me. She jumped up, and hugged me properly, nuzzling her face into my neck.

"Arabella-ne! You came back!"
I giggled. "You make it sound like I was never ever going to come back!"
She pouted as she pulled away to look at me. "It felt like it, you were gone for hours!"
"But," I pet her head. "I've come back now, so there's nothing to worry about!"

Later, Taiyō & Tsuki came over to us, and tried to get the kids back to what they were doing. But since they were so interested in what went down with the mission, the two gave up & sat down to listen with the kids. By the time we realized that it was time for the kids to go off to their next class, I was getting around to the bit where Sabo & I were down at the beach, cuddling in the underbrush.

"Oh & Amaya!" I called. "We have another picnic to be scheduled!"
She grinned. "Yeah! See ya later, Arabella-ne!"

They all skipped off, leaving me alone with Tsuki & Taiyō for a few minutes. We started to set everything up for the next class. They( our next lot of children) are just about to start their next unit, which is about disarming enemies.

"Say..." Tsuki called. "how long have you & the Chief been dating now?"
"Five months coming up on six."
"Hell! Thats a loooong time!" Taiyō said with a surprised look.
"Whats that supposed to mean?"
"Well, I'm just surprised that you & him have lasted so long." Taiyō commented, with Tsuki nodding his head in the background.
"Yeah....And if I remember correctly, I've been working with the Revolutionary army for almost seven months as well."

'Hell, seven months already? Just eight months ago, I was running in, and attempting to steal some stuff from here. Is it really already August?'

Taiyō grinned. "And hey, here I thought that when you first tried to infiltrate this place, I thought you were heartless."
A sad smile appeared on my face. "Yeah...that was me before this happened though. But that me is gone now..anyway, we need to get back into setting up. Next class will be here soon."

Taiyō and Tsuki pov
'You know, I can sense that you're upset.'
'I can't help it!'
'Come on now, you & I both know that we wouldn't even have a chance with her. She's already dating the Chief.'

'But.....I just really, really love her. And you do too. I want her, and as do you...I still cannot believe that you're so calm about all of this.'
'Come on, this is me that we're talking about. Anyway....what now?'
'I don't know...well we could tell her how we feel.'
'Now? When Arabella is already in a relationship.'
'You know it as well as I do that if we don't tell her, then it'll keep hurting inside.'
'But then there's the fact that everything will become awkward when we teach the kids. We need to think this through, Taiyō.'

'Taiyō?'
'Sometimes, I hate it when we get crushes.'
'Well....how about we tell her-'
'But-'
'Come on, admit it, you're right. We're going to tell her our feelings today. We'll catch her when she's alone, and say it. Since we both know the outcome, we'll just ask to be friends.'
'You know how that will go down.'
A sigh. 'I know...but effort, Taiyō. Effort.'
