Chapter 66

Harry took my hand as we rode in the backseat of the van on the way to the management meeting I set up for us.

"You're nervous," he says in my ear.

"I know," I whisper, staring out of the window at the city passing us by. "I know what they'll say."

"Don't think that way, Lou," his husky voice whispers. "No matter what they say, you'll always be my best friend."

Like an idiot, I smile to myself, grasping his larger hand tighter in mine. I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend. Even if he says the most cheesy and cliche things in the world, I'm glad that it's him I fell in love with.

"And you're mine, cheese ball," I reply.

He laughs and cuddles into me, staring out the window as well. As the cars pass us by, I watch them. They're on their way to happier places most likely. Happier than a stupid management meeting. But this had to be done. Harry and I want our freedom. We want to love each other without having to hide away from the fans and the public. So, we have to do this, even if the meetings suck monkey butt.

"These meetings suck monkey butt," Harry groans into my arm.

I laugh. This is one of the reasons why I think we're meant to be. We say each other's thoughts aloud.

"More like monkey balls," I laugh.

"I was just thinking that!" he exclaims.

Point proven. I chuckle, resting my head on top of his.

"We're almost there," he whispers, sounding slightly nervous.

Here's the thing about Harry. One moment, he's confident. He feels like he can do ANYTHING. Then, his reality sets in, he overthinks, and he is shaky with nervousness. I kiss his forehead gently.

"It's okay, Haz. Just be confident like you were before, remember?" I reassure him. "We're not taking "no" as an answer."

"And that's right. We aren't."

"There's that confidence."

He giggles and sits up as we near the building where management had set the meeting.

"Ready, babe?" I ask turning to look at him.

He bites his bottom lip, looking unsure, before nodding with the familiar determination in his eyes. Confident Harry is sexy. I pull him out of the van, holding his clammy hand in mine. He takes a deep breath.

"Let's do this poo," he says exhaling.

I smile, nodding quickly as we walk side by side up to the office building.

"Let's do it."

I open the door for him and he walks in with a big smile sent my way.

"Thanks," he says.

"Mmm hmm," I hum, closing the door behind us.

And we walk. We walk down the familiar hall to the room we've had numerous meetings in. However, this time is different. This time, we're nervous. We have a goal. We have to fight for something. That's really sad if you think about it. We have to fight to love each other. And what do straight people have to fight for? Nothing.

If one of us were a girl, it would be alright. The two big reasons that we can't be together is because we're in the same band and we're bisexual/gay, which to management, is wrong. It would apparently "ruin" our career. Yeah, right... Suddenly, my nerves set in. What if this doesn't work out and they spit us up? What if everything gets ruined? I don't want to lose him. Not again. Not like I did on the alternate universe.
