Chapter 76
"So, Niall is still at school?" I ask.
Harry and I walk side by side down the streets of the small town, deciding to do something productive.
"Yeah. Sadly. It gets pretty lonely being only Larry and me. But some of my friends and I hang out sometimes."
"How's work?"
"Good. Everyone in town loves the bakery. My chocolate pie is the most popular."
"Mm," I hum. "That sounds delicious."
He smiles widely at me and grabs my hand in his. His hand is very large and warm. Rough, yet gentle to the touch.
"I'll have to make it for you," he states, pulling me closer to his side.
"Yes, you will," I say, smiling fondly at my boyfriend.
I kiss his cheek sweetly. When I pull away, I can see that his cheeks are blushing red. He stares at the ground embarrassed.
"Aw, Harry!" I cooe, pinching his cheeks lightly.
He shakes his head, snickering.
"Stop it, Lou."
I burst into laughter.
"Faggots!" Someone suddenly yells at us.
I roll my eyes, ignoring them. Harry pulls his hand away, shoving it into his hoodie pocket.
"No," I mumble.
I reach for his hand.
"I don't care," I continue. "They don't know about us."
Nervously, he bites his bottom lip before taking my hand that patiently waited for his to return.
"Ignore them, Harry. They're d*cks. If they knew about our love, they would just be jealous."
He looks slightly down at me with bright emerald orbs. He smiles and bites his bottom lip once again.
"You're right!" he exclaims with a beatific smile, grabbing my biceps. "I'm not ashamed!"
Yanking me towards him, he kisses me proudly and passionately. I smile into the kiss. I slide my hands onto his shoulders. I can feel the stares we're getting form the people who are judging us and hating us because we are gay. Do we care? Of course not. It feels great to have his lips against mine once again. I haven't felt these lips in a long time. I missed this kiss. Why would we care what they think?
I'm just pleased that we don't have to hide here. No one is keeping us apart or telling us that we can't love each other. Nope. Sure people won't like that we're together here as well as the other, but I don't listen to them. I'm happy with Harry. It's meant to be. I don't care what anyone says. He pulls back from the kiss, resting his forehead against mine.
"I'm not ashamed at all."
I chuckle, grabbing his left hand and continuing to walk down the sidewalk with him.
"You know... You scared me half to death this morning," I say getting serious.
I glance at him. He nods, his crooked smile fading away. I rub his hand with my thumb comfortingly.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be..." I whisper.
Tears come to my eyes immediately when thinking of it.
"What would have happened if I wasn't there?" I choke out, shaking my head back and forth. "If I wasn't there... How would you have gotten to your inhaler?"
