Alternate Universe
*Louis' P.O.V.*
I look at the clock. It's 6.
"Okay. Well, that's it from me today. Have a great afternoon and stay tuned. A very special surprise guest is going to be here with Grimmy," I say cheerfully into the microphone in my radio station. "Goodnight, everyone."
I turn on more music and leave. Only, like, ten seconds later, I get a call.
"Yellow?" I answer getting out the keys to my yellow car.
"Louis!" Harry says on the other side.
I smile. I'm always so happy when he calls me.
"Hello, love. How are ya?" I say sitting in the driver's seat of my car.
"Alright. You?"
"Oh... I'm fine. But I'm really curious about you, Hazza."
"Well... Ed and I went to a taco truck!"
I chuckle and lean back in my seat.
"How was it?"
"It actually sucked. Worst tacos ever."
I laugh.
"I'm sorry to hear that, sweet cheeks. I know how much you love your tacos. How's that band of yours, though?"
I like that Harry's in a band. I remember Harry talking about White Eskimo on the other world. He always said how awkward he was and how weird he dressed. I looked up pictures once and I found it to be funny, but cute.
"Um.. We're actually going to be in a battle of the bands competition at my school," says Harry.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I was wondering if you'd like to come."
I smile real big.
"Of course! I want to see how much you've grown since Ed never sends any pictures."
He laughs.
"I guess he forgets. Also, he barely ever gets on his e-mail."
I laugh, but my smile slowly turns upside down.
"But I can't have any contact with you. If Ed sees me there-"
"Ed doesn't know what you look like," interupts Harry.
"You mean... he's never seen a picture of me?"
"Nope. I keep the picture of you hidden. He never saw it."
I nod to myself.
"Cool."
"To Ed you're... William... Payne."
I snicker and roll my eyes.
"My name is now William Payne? I ask amused.
"As far as Ed will know."
"Really. My middle name and Liam's last name?"
"Why not?" Harry asks quietly.
I shake my head, but smile.
"As long as I get to see you," I whisper.
"Oh! Ed's home. I'll talk to you soon!" Harry says quickly.
"Okay," I say. "Text me the adress to your school and when it is."
"I will," Harry says. "I love you, William."
I chuckle.
"Love you, too."
I hang up the phone and am so happy. I haven't seen him in forever it seems like. I miss him even though we talk everyday. It's not the same as seeing eachother in person. All I know is that his hair has gotten longer. But I want to actally see him. I'm anxious to. I smile to myself and start the car. I don't want to go home yet, though. Wandering the city seems nice right now.
Maybe I'll go and get coffee. On the other world, Harry and I got coffee a lot. There were times when Harry went and got lattes, capaccinos, and coffees for almost everyone. He was (and is) a very generous person. Which also reminds me of the time he bought a bunch of pizzas for homeless people. That's just the kind of person he is. The fame never got to him. Although, I do wonder about those tatoos. I'm usually not into tatoos, but they look hot on him.
Maybe tatoos aren't that bad. I might just get one. I pull up to the coffee shop. It isn't crowded at all. Only two or three people are seated inside and a girl is working the cash register. I hop out of the car and hurry inside. I look at the menu and decide on a simple French Vanilla Capaccino. Looking back at the girl at the cash register, I see a very familiar person. Her hair in a sloppy bun, a little bit of makeup, and flawless skin. Eleanor. She works here?
"I-I'll have a French Vanilla Capaccino," I stutter.
Even though our whole "relationship" was complicated, I still love her and missed her. She is one of my best friends. I always feel so guilty about "using her." I don't love her the way she loves me on the other world. If I was to ever go back to my world, I would need to end it with Eleanor. I couldn't keep faking it with her. She deserves a better man who will truly love her from the beginning until the end of time. Like the way I feel about Harry. Only, she deserves someone great, but I will never deserve Harry. I'm not good enough for him.
Eleanor smiles at me and types in the order. She tells me the price and I give her the money for it.
"It will be ready shortly," she says sweetly.
I nod and stand off to the side. Eleanor is a pretty girl. As weird as it is, I think of her as a sister. Gross, right? Kissing my sister. Ew. At least on the other world I make her happy.
"Do you need something else, sir?" Eleanor asks kindly.
I didn't realize that I was staring. I was very deep in thought. I shake my head.
"Nah. I kind of zoned out. That's all."
She giggles aand continues to make my capoccino. I look down and pull out my phone that just vibrated.
From Hazza<3:
To William Payne:
I forget the adress 2 my school. I'll txt u l8r 2 let you no. The battle of the bands is next saturday @ 5 pm. C u there??
I laugh at my name in the phone and text back.
From William Payne:
To Hazza<3:
Yeppers! See ya then! I promise xo.
I smile and put my phone away. Eleanor sees me smiling and smiles back.
"I was texting my son," I simply state. "He's a crazy fella."
Her eyes go wide and I know what she is going to say.
"Yeah. I look a bit young to be a dad, but it's a long story," I quickly say.
She grins.
"Maybe you can tell me the story over dinner sometime," she says.
"As friends, right?" I ask before I agree. "I'm not really looking for a relationship right now."
"Darn," she says playfully. "But yeah. Friends."
"When are you free?" I ask.
"Um... Saturday?"
I nod quickly.
"Sure. Saturday's great."
She hands me my capoccino before taking out her cell phone. I take out mine also and we exchange numbers. Maybe this is a fresh start with Eleanor. Nothing fake and "romantic." Only two friends hanging out like I've always wanted for El and I. Something real.
