Chapter 72
"I'm listening..."
"Okay..." Liam says.
I tighten my grip on him. I have one arm around his neck and the other around his waist. On his broad shoulder, I rest my head comfortably. I feel his head turn so he is whispering right into my ear.
"I don't want you to give up on your Harry," he says.
I laugh mentally to myself, even in a time like this. I remember him saying "your Harry" before, but this time, he actually is mine... And I am his.
"Why would I?"
"Good point," he breathes, tickling my ear. "You're strong. It's just Harry I'm worried about. That's why I want you to continue to stay strong. For him."
"And you..." I whisper back. "Take care of him for me. Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Make him laugh as well. All I've ever wanted for him is to be happy."
He kisses my cheek long and lovingly, pulling my body even closer to his.
"You four are angels. My angels. All I've ever wanted for you four is to be happy."
I cry harder into his shoulder, leaving tear droplets on his shirt.
"We feel the same about you, Li," I reply. "I don't promise that I'll stay strong, but I will try... For Harry."
"And I'll keep my eyes on him and make him laugh... For you."
"Thank you."
He smiles sweetly, pressing another kiss to my cheek.
"I'm so proud of you, Louis. I have never seen you this passionate about someone. You're willing to do anything to be with him and have your freedom. I know I would never be able to be that strong if I were in your position."
"If you were gay, you'd know."
"You better not be!" Will says butting into our conversation.
"I'm not!" Liam replies quickly, sending glares at daggers at Will. "Niam could never be real."
Confused, I tilt my head.
"Uh... I never said anything about Niam."
He pauses, completely silent.
"Uh... Um... Well, I just said Niam because it's... I don't know... It just could never be real."
It would be cute, however. I shrug it off and embrace Liam one last time before we part, looking at each other sadly. I can't believe that Management is doing this to us. Not only are they taking away my boyfriend, but my best mate as well. Liam is someone who I can tell anything to. I can trust any of the boys with my life, but especially Liam. He is our Daddy (other than Paul). But Liam was Daddy first. He held us together as a group. Without him, we would have fallen apart.
I remember back when One Direction was first put together. Liam and I were always at each other throats. We were really different. Almost too different. As time passes, we grew closer. I guess we finally realized, "Wow. I'm going to be working with you for years so I better get along with you."
It turns out that Liam and I are more alike than I thought. We both like superheroes, never want to grow up, and we never give up. Thinking this, I take his hand, giving the top of his hand a soft kiss.
"I'll see ya later, Lou," he whispers smiling a bit at me.
"See ya, Li."
He gives my hand a squeeze before turning away. He looks down at his feet, hands in his pockets as he trudges down the hall.
