Chapter Four
*Alli's POV*
"What's wrong, A...?" I asked as we were alone in the living room.
"Shh! He might hear you!" She interrupted me. "And nothing." She looked at the ground.
"I'm sorry." I touched her hand. "You can tell me anything, you know that."
"I miss him." Tears filled her eyes. Even though I've known her for a day, I could tell that she always tried to act fine, but deep inside she was broken.
"Miss who?" Cody questioned entering the room with a bucket of ice cream.
"Ugh... one of my friends." She looked startled. "I think you forgot spoons." She laughed.
"Oh yeah I'll be back..." He ran out the room.
"Oh my god. Why haven't you told him?" I raised an eyebrow. How could my brother not know what happened to her? Most of the neighbours do!
"I don't want to." She looked away from me. "I hate people feeling sorry for me. I don't want him to look at me the way people did at my old school."
She wasn't telling me something. I was about to ask her when she continued.
"At my old school, before my dad found out he had cancer, the kids at school used to bully me. They would call me things like 'ugly', 'worthless', 'fat' and more. They would throw me in the dumpster and trip me in the halls. Then, when the whole town knew what was going on with my dad, they were all around me trying to be my friend and comfort me. Acting like all those words didn't mean anything, but to me, to me it did." I don't think she noticed the tears streaming down my face and hers.
"I couldn't take it anymore so I dropped out and began home schooling. Most of the times, it was at the hospital." She started sobbing.
I'm surprised Cody didn't come back, or heard her cries. I didn't know what to say so I just rubbed her back comforting her.
"Here come on." I stood up and grabbed her hand.
I walked her to my room's bathroom as she looked at the ground the whole time. I began helping her clean her face and wiping the tears from her eyes. I was cleaning her face when I noticed something on her arm. The scars. Had she been cutting? Thankfully they looked old and their weren't new ones. There were also bruises. Did those girls beat her? I didn't say anything.
"Thank you Alli." She gave me a hug.
"No problem." I smiled when Cody knocked on the door.
"Um... Is everything alright?" He yelled from the other side of the door.
"Yeah, just girl talk." I winked opening the door.
Cody smiled awkwardly as we all made our way back to the living room and ate.

Main POV:
"So, since I don't know your name, can I give you a nick name?" Cody smirked after we finished eating ice cream.
"Sure." I laughed. I'd like to see what he calls me.
"I'll call you..." He paused tapping his chin. "Angel." He laughed.
"What?" I was expecting something like, bookworm, nerd, brown eyes; not this.
"You remind me of an Angel." He winked at me. I rolled my eyes. I'm probably anything, but an angel.
"Come on..." My mom paused. "Do they know your name yet?"
My mom always knew how I didn't like telling people about me, not until I trust them. My mom also knew what those girls did to me, but there wasn't evidence to show what they did so they didn't get expelled. My mom also knew I use to cut, but that was just for a week. I haven't cut since then.
"Only Alli." I said getting up from the couch. We said our goodbyes/thanks and left.
"Bye Angel." Cody whispers in my ear and gives me a hug as I was about to walk out the door.
"Umm... Bye." My cheeks got red walking away. That's probably the closest I'll ever get to a guy.
