Harry POV

We were led through the Great Hall. The teachers were sat on one long table at the top. The four house tables were in a row slightly lower down. Stood next to a stool on top of which was the Sorting Hat Mum told me about was a stern looking witch called Professor McGonagall. 'Stay on her good side, Harry, and she'll be an ally for you. Behave exactly as you should and she will reward you,' Mum had once said. I had seen a mischievous spark in her eye and said, 'Mum, did you behave exactly as you should?'

Her eyes had glinted. 'That,' she told me, 'is impossible at Hogwarts.' And we had said no more.

The witch started calling out names. After a few random people I couldnt even remember, she yelled, 'Longbottom, Neville!'

The kid was called to the front amongst whispers and nudges.' Hufflepuff!' There were loud cheers and whistling.Q

More names, then-'Malfoy, Draco!'

'SLYTHERIN!' roared the hat.

'Malfoy, Harry!'

'SLYTHERIN!'

I joined Draco at the Slytherin table and we watched, amused, as 'Weasley, Ron' was cheered so loudly by a Hufflepuff girl he had a crush on, making him run to hug her, forgetting to take the hat off. He ran back amidst peals of laughter to give it to 'Rose, Kelly,' who became a slytherin.
