Harry POV

The ball came quicker than anyone expected. I was sooo looking forward to it. As it dragged nearer, though, Draco's mood became unbearably miserable. He said he hated the very guts of Lorissa Black. I laughed at him one breakfast when he complained, but then I saw his stony face when he spotted something behind me. I swivelled round- it was Lorissa, chatting and laughing with Reuben Crabbe, whom Draco later said through clenched teeth was the son of a Slytherin who had betrayed his dad. I could tell that this wasn't what was bothering him, though. Later, in the library, I said to him as we were meant to be poring over a Potions textbook, 'Draco, if you 'hate the very guts of Lorissa Black', then why do you care if Crabbe's chatting her up?'

'She's my date, and he knows it. He's just turning on the charm to wind me up.'

I laughed at this, and wolf-whistled at him. 'One minute you hate her guts, next you're protecting her?'

Draco went scarlet and disappeared among some bookshelves to hide his face. I just laughed to myself, and started attempting to read the book.

3 HOURS LATER

I wandered down the corridor to History Of Magic, a class my mother had hated, but I quite liked. Only because while Mr Binns, Professor Binns' son, was droning on and on, I could do whatever I liked.

On the way, I started daydreaming and not watching where I was going. Suddenly, there was a massive crash and the most beautiful girl I had ever set eyes on was on the floor before me.

It was Lorissa.
