"Come by early." He said. "Meet my kids!" He said. Here I am, a red, uncomfortable wig on my head, a tight red dress that had a slit that went all the way up to my thigh, purple gloves on my hands and 60 pounds of make-up on my face. It could be worse... I think. Oh, wait... It went way worse.
"I can find them." I remarked, pulling my gloves off and throwing them on the ground. I snapped my fingers and changed into something more appealing and comfortable to run in. "James, stay here, please." I looked at him as I pulled my shoes off. A woman screaming was a little more than distracting. When I looked over her, I let out a sigh and snapped my fingers. Her dress was almost engulfed in flames. I put it out.
"You can?"
"James? Just, trust me. Okay? I'll be back in 3 hours." I stated, running down the street and towards my farm house. I ran into the living room and picked up my spell book and flipped it open to the tracking spell. I gazed over it before running over to my shelves and grabbed the ingredients I needed. I threw them into my carpet bag, along with my spell book, before running back down to the Mayor's house. I was panting for breath whence I found James.
"Odette?" James was sitting at a table, his head was hanging low and his hands were folded on the table.
"I need..." I wiped my forehead. "I need a toy or shirt or scarf or something that belongs to one of them." I looked down at him. James nodded and ran to one of his children's room.
I placed my bag on the table and pulled out every one of the items. I pulled out my spell book and placed it on the table next to the items. A sharp *ping* ran through my brain. My hands went straight to my head.
"Odette?" His voice came back. I looked up at him and blinked. He had a teddy bear that I could only assume was Michael's. He placed it on the table and came over to me. "Sit down." He stated, bringing me over to a chair. I brought my hand up to my nose and touched it. When I looked at it, it was covered in blood.
"I have to do the spell." I said, pushing James away from me and trying to stand up. James pushed me back into the chair.
"You're not doing any spell." He pointed at me.
"I have to." I wiped my nose with the back of my hand, smearing blood all over the back of it. "Your kids need to be saved. I know how to get them back." I remarked, eyeing the thick spell book that was placed on the table. "Please, James." I begged, looking up at him. He sighed and nodded, removing his hands from my shoulders and helping me up. He walked me over to the table and looked at me.
"Do you need help with anything?"
"I need you to get me a large metal bowl and then I need you to stay out of the way while I'm working." I let out through small pants. James nodded and sped off to the kitchen. He came back moments later with a silver bowl. I took it and placed it on the table behind the ingredients. I flipped my book open with the little bit of strength I had. Something happened and it's screwing me up.
"What's this spell going to do?"
"When I finish it, I'm going to pour some of it onto Michael's toy and it'll track where they are." I stated, pouring a child's laughter into the bowl. I grabbed some crushed daisies and threw them into the bowl. "When we get to them, I can wake them up. Max might think she's the only powerful person in this town. Well, she's wrong." I stated, snapping my fingers into the bowl and hoping it'll work. "Then, we'll go to the hospital."
"Why would we need to go to the hospital?"
"Internal bleeding. Maybe? I'm not sure. Bring my book here is doing something." I stated, picking up the teddy bear and dipping it into the potion. I started floating. "Praise god." I rubbed my nose with the back of my hand and looked at the bear. "Let's go." I glanced at James. He nodded and rushed to my side. "Wait." I pulled away from him and put all my things back into my bag. I nodded. He helped me out of the house and walked with the bear.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yes. It's fine. I might be dying. Maybe? I'm not sure. Could be any..." I paused to catch my breath. "Could be any number of things. I could be having a stroke right now and I wouldn't even know. No. I would." I coughed. Blood painted the road. My blood. "Could even be voodoo. I'm not sure." I looked at the bear. We continued onwards until we came to a stop, in the middle of the forest.
"We need to distract them." I stated, looking at the small hut that was a few yards ahead of us. James nodded.
"I know what to do." He stated before going through with an elaborate plan. Which, I should say I agreed to and this plan might actually kill me. James sat me against a tree and stood in front of me.
"I swear, James, the second we get those kids awake, you take me to the hospital." I stated, snapping my fingers at him weakly. A duplicate James popped out.
"Prepare for trouble." The duplicate remarked. I let out a heavy sigh. I opened up my bag and pulled out my book. My head felt as if it was going to explode. I snapped at the book and a supplicate fell onto my lap. "Here." I stated, handing over the fake book before placing my real book into my bag.
"Okay." James Two replied, taking it and looking at it. There were a few things in the book that were off. Like, in my real book there were pages that were from other books in it, but in the fake on, there were no pages in it. On the spine of my book the letters GB were stamped onto, the fake one did not.
"You go off." I nodded. And he did. He walked up to the hut and got Maxwell and Peter to come out. I snapped at the real James and I and made us invisible. We snuck into the hut. His children were out on separate cots. James went to Wendy's side whilst I went to John's. "Please work." I sighed, placing my hand on top of John's head.
"Five more minutes." He groaned. I smiled weakly before going to Michael and doing the same thing. I never made it to Wendy. I collapsed before making it over to her.
"John, pick up your sister. Michael, come along." James' voice echoed through my head as he came over to pick me up. "It's okay." He looked at me as we ran through the forest and towards the town. James Two and the fake spell book should have vanished by now. Everything is okay. I'll be fine.
That's what I thought. Until I blacked out.
