Astrid hurries to get dressed. Hiccup texted her that he is on his way. Her and Hiccup decided that they would going a date. And of course, Hiccup wouldn't tell her where they were going. He just said not to dress all fancy. So she decided on something casual.
She tries to get rid of the nerves as she waits for Hiccup to arrive. Why is she nervous? It's their first official date. She just doesn't want anything to go wrong. After everything that happened between them, she justs something to right for once. And with everything that went on with his father, there was little time to talk about everything.
When she thinks that she is finally ready, she walks out of her room and walks down the stairs. She sees her brother Connor watching TV.
When he hears her, he looks at her curiously. "Where are you going?" He asks.
She gives him a look, as if trying to say 'Why is that any of your business?' Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to read her look and doesn't respond.
She sighs. "I am going on a date with Hiccup."
He left an eyebrow. "Do I have to give him the talk about 'If you hurt my sister, I will hurt you' talk?" Astrid glares at him and he chuckles.
"So. When is lover boy getting here?"
"He should be here soon." Astrid says looking at the time.
"Where are you going?"
"Why are you interrogating me?" She says giving him a rude look.
"Why are you avoiding my question?" He says, trying -and failing- at giving the look back at her.
"You irritate me." She mutters and walks away. When she hears a knock at the door, she hurries over.
She then realizes what she did and blushes. She waits a moment to not look so pathetic. Connor snickers at her reaction. She glares at him and ens the door.
She sees Hiccup standing there wearing a grey T-shirt, jeans and a sneaker. He never wears a shoe on his left foot. He never sees the point of it.
He once did ask her once if he would get shoes for a half the price because he only has one foot. She punched him for that.
She notices that she was staring,so she quickly looked away while blushes.
"Evening M'lady. Ready to go?" She nods and she steps outside and shuts the door. Hiccup offers her his arm and she blushes at his actions. Nonetheless, she takes his arm. He leads her down the steps and to his car. He opens her door and she gets in. Hiccup really is a gentlemen.
He walks over to his side, gets in and starts the car. "So, are you going to tell me where we are going?" Astrid asks and looks over at Hiccup. He smiles but shakes his head. She huffs and looks out the window.
Even thought they haven't been driving for that long, she can still place where they are going and she is unimpressed.
She looks over at Hiccup. "Really? Why are we going to your house for our date?" He smiles and shakes his head.
"I never said it was at my house. You just need to trust me." She rolls her eyes and looks out the window.
Now you may be wondering why they are driving to his house and not walking. They don't exactly live close to each other. It would be a long walk to his house.
When they finally pull up in his drive way, he stops the car and gets out. Astrid unbuckles and smiles at Hiccup when he opens the door for her. Instead of walking to the front door, they walk around the house and through the backyard. She squeezes Hiccup's hand and he looks at her.
"Where are we going?" She asks as they enter the forest in his backyard. He smiles at her and continues walking. "We have a little ways to walk until we get through. She looks at him suspiciously as they walk. She decides to trust him.
Finally, they come a cross a cove. There is a waterfall and a lake. In the clearing, there are rocks and trees. Astrid is in awe at the sight.
"Hiccup... When did you find this?" She asks and looks up at him. He smiles down to her.
"When I was little, my mom and I would go exploring. And one day, we came across this. I come here whenever I need to clear my head. Which is a lot more than you would think." She smiles at him and he shows her the way down.
She is not sure how she missed it, but he leads her to a blanket with a picnic basket. She smiles at the thought of Hiccup being really classy.
They sit down and they eat the food in the picnic basket. Since it is summer, when it turned eight, the sun was still up but you could see the start of the sunset.
She leans against Hiccup and rests her head on his shoulder. He wraps his arm around her and they just sit there, taking in the moment
