"People will notice the change in your attitude towards them, but won't notice their behavior that made you change."

"LEXIE, WHAT DID you want to tell me earlier?" Soda asked as I kept walking away from him.
I didn't answer and kept walking away from him. He got irritated and grabbed me by the wrist, turning me towards him. He pulled me real close, our faces inches apart.
"Lexie, what's wrong?"
I pulled away from his grip and shot him a glare, making his face soften. "Lexie, this isn't you. What's going on?"
"Just leave me alone." I snapped, doing it just the way Dally taught me. He told me that if you don't let people in, you won't get hurt.
Soda looked hurt, but it got replaced by anger. Soda is the most sweetest and reckless person I know, but when he gets angry he's as bad as Dallas.
"What the hell did I do to you?" He shouted, his blue eyes turning a shade of grey.
"I can't do this anymore, Soda! You're making me go nuts! It would probably be best if I just went back to the mental asylum." My voice went back to calm and controlled, but my nose was still flaring.
He shook his head repeatedly and pulled me into a hug. "Please don't do that."
I swallowed the lump in my throat, pulling away again. "Soda, I don't care what Sandy does to me. I can't pretend like I don't have feelings for you! It's killing me." Tears were now falling down my face, and Soda sighed.
"You don't know what she's capable of."
I chuckled, wiping my tears away. "She doesn't know what I'm capable of. Two and Dally taught me how to fight and talk smack."
Soda giggled and his smile came back. The ones that made me like him even more. "Well, in that case, you should be ready."
We walked back onto Steve's back porch and sat on the porch swing, the stars starting to come out of their hiding places. I leaned my head on Soda's chest as the swing moved back and forth, the wind blowing through my hair. "Soda?"
"Hmm?"
"I love you."
He sat his head up, looking at me. The darkness didn't hide the enormous grin playing on his face. "I love you too, Lexie."
"Are you going to end it with Sandy?" I questioned, excitement filled in my voice.
He laughed. "Yes, but you have to promise me that you'll stick with me and the gang at all times. I don't know what she's going to do to you if she finds you by yourself."
I grinned. "I'm fine with sticking by you all the time."
I've never felt this happy before. I feel like a light turned on inside me that's been cut out for so long. Dally was wrong. If you let people in, sometimes they surprise you.
(me at the moment)
I entered in Steve's living room, a huge smile plastered across my face. JJ was sitting on the couch, looking like he wanted to ask me what happened today. He didn't though because he thought I was still mad at him.
I jumped on top of him, making him surprised. "I forgive you, JJ!"
He pulled me into a hug. "Thank God! I thought I lost you, Lex." His voice was muffled since we were hugging.
Once we pulled away, I told him everything that just happened. His eyes went wide. "Lex, I don't want her hurting you."
"As long as I stay with the gang I'll be fine." I assured him.
He wasn't as tense as before, but still tense. He shook his head and sighed. "Lexie, the gang may not even be able to protect you. If she has other people come after you for her, they could hurt the gang and take you."
I started getting frustrated. "Why can't I love someone and be in peace? That's all I ask for."
JJ gave me a sympathetic look. "I'm not trying to ruin your spirits, I just want you safe."
I gave him a light smile. "I know you do."
Steve came in howling like a wolf, making JJ and I about jump out of our pants. "You and Pepsi-Cola are finally kickin' it!"
I started giggling and he picked me up, spinning me around the living room in circles. Once he sat me down, he gave me a warning look. "From now on, you're going to have to come with me and Soda to the DX when we work. We'll protect you."
I nodded. "I can help you two work there also. That place really needs some organizing."
He chuckled and ruffled my hair. "It sure does, kiddo. I'm sure our boss would be excited for you to organize that place. It looks like Two-Bit ransacked the place. Hell, he probably did."
I started laughing. This was where I belonged. I didn't belong in a mental asylum. I belong here with these great people that care about me as much as I care about them.
