April's POV
"Grayson is a nice boy, you should trust him." I looked at my mother dumbfound. "I do mom. I really am starting to love him." She smiled at me understandingly. "You're in good hands April, I trust Grayson with your life.""Mom is everything okay?" She never really talks to me in this way. "April dear, let me finish." She seemed off, not her usual self. "You need to move on. Start new, Grayson is your chance for a new beginning." She didn't look me in the eyes, she looked past me.
"Learn to let go April, live a little! Grayson and you are one now, let him replace me." Her choice of words caught my attention. "Where are you going mom? No one can replace you." She stepped closer, still looking at something behind me.
I turned around, but it was all plain. Everything was dark from where I stood, everything was pitch black. Only my mother was visible, wearing a white gown. Everything behind my mom was also white. "My time has come. I love you April." She walked through me, literally.
I was invisible. I quickly turned around, ready to run after her, but I couldn't move. I looked down to see that I had no legs, I was just a floating body with no feet. Everything that was once black turned into white, as my mom walked through it.
Suddenly a bridge appeared, and that was where my mom was headed. "Mom! Don't go please!" I begged, as tears started to drizzle down rapidly. "Please! You can't leave." I shook my head, and tried to move but there was no use.
She didn't look back, she just continued walking in a steady pace towards the bridge. Once my mom reached the bridge she stopped, and turned slowly. For the first time today she looked me in the eyes. She smiled at me, the same smile that I've gotten used to.
I saw a tear roll down her cheek, as she turned around. She stayed for a second longer, before crossing the bridge. And just like that everything was once again black, and I was completely alone.
"Mom! No!" I screamed. I shot up in Grayson's bed, my breathing fast as I was engulfed in sweat. "April?" Grayson immediately woke up, worry evident in his eyes. "I'm fine, I'm fine." I said, more so to myself than him.
He didn't question me, he just let me cry in his arms until all my feelings were out. I don't know why I was crying, it was just a dream. Or more like a nightmare actually, and I really didn't want to know the meaning of it.
"It's okay baby. Gray's here." His warm hands rubbed my back soothingly. Something inside of me was physically hurting and I never knew a simple dream was capable of doing that. "Go to sleep babe." Grayson whispered.
"I can't." There was so much on my mind so there was no way I could fall asleep. "Okay. Take your time." Grayson said. "Hey when you were little, how did your mother get you to fall asleep." I felt a pang of hurt at the mention of my mother, but it's only been three days without her.
I smiled a little at the fact that I'll get to see her tomorrow, or more like today since its four in the morning. "I was a very complicated child. But she told me I would always fall asleep during car rides. She used to basically go in circles around town at night until I fell asleep."
"Let's go." I got off of Grayson's chest, confused. "Go where?" I asked him in the dark. "On a car ride." I laughed at his insane idea at this hour of the morning. "No way Gray!" I shook my head at him. "It's the only way you'll fall asleep."
"Seriously Grayson we can't do that now." This boy was extreme, and I actually kind of liked it. "It'll get your mind off things." I shook my head with amusement one more time before agreeing.
"Fine. But you're driving." He chuckled at me for a moment. "Obviously."
•••••••••
"What's your middle name?" Grayson asked, as he pulled into a stop in front of a traffic light. We were currently driving to my house, since my mom should be back from her trip right now."My middle name is Rayne. What's yours?" I asked as Grayson and I continued to play our game. We were both trying to learn things about each other that we didn't have a chance to learn. "Ugh! Mine is Bailey." He groaned as I burst out laughing.
"I know it's a girl's name stop being mean." He pouted at me, making me laugh more. "So why did your mother name you April Rayne?" I was stumped on his question for a little while. I knew the answer, I just wasn't sure if I liked it.
"Because my mom and dad met in a day in April, while it was raining." My name was symbolic, but I wasn't sure if I really liked what it represented. It only means that every time my mom looks at me she remembers my father, and the day they met. "Wow."
"What's it like having a twin?" I asked, knowing that it was now my turn. "It has it's perks actually. You always have someone there, like a permanent best friend." I felt my heart melting at Grayson's words. I was so jealous of him, I've always wanted a sibling.
"Aww you guys are so cute!" I exclaimed, getting extreme feels. "What do you mean you guys?" He mocked. "Chill Grayson, you're the one I'm getting married to." He gave me a side glare. "You got that right."
"Okay my turn! What do you like most about me?" Grayson asked cheekily. "Of course the question has to revolve around you." I shook my head with amusement. "Well... There's this one thing... No I like the- uh um."
Grayson's eyes widened as he glanced at me briefly before returning to the rode. "All that stuttering better be because you can't choose and not because you don't like anything about me."
"Relax, I like everything." I giggled as he released a breath. "But I mean the most thing I like is your smile. You know, with that jawline of yours, and how a little dimple peeks it's way through." I couldn't help but notice that he was blushing.
"Aww little Gray bear is blushing!" He continued to smile, but made sure to turn away from me so I wouldn't see. "I'm tempted to say that the most thing I like about you are your breasts but-" and the fuck boy returns. "But to sound like a good human being and not just a horny teenager I'm going to say your beautiful eyes."
I was about to say something but I was interrupted when Grayson said, "We're here!" I quickly jumped out of the car excitedly, in deep need of seeing my mom after those few days.
Grayson's POV
April and I walked into her house hand in hand, a huge smile on her face as she was ready to see her mom. "Mom! I'm home!" Her voice echoed through the whole house, but not a peep was heard in return."Maybe she's upstairs in her room." April said. "I'll go see." I nodded at her as she skipped up the stairs, like a cute little six year old. I was about to take a seat on the couch, but a loud agonizing scream escaped April's lips. "Mom! No!"
