Castiel ran across the crosswalk, trench coat flowing behind him like wings. The cars honked at him in annoyance-- early commuters with no patience. He cursed at them in silent prayer.

He finally made it across and walked briskly towards his favorite coffee shop, The Dark Roast, and strolled inside.

The cafe was filled with people. Castiel sighed. By the time it would be his turn to order, he'd miss his bus and be late to work.

He exited the cafe and surveyed the street for any other establishment that could have possibly served caffeine of any type, coffee specifically.

There was nothing.

"Ah shit." He cursed and shook his head. "I need my damn caffeine."

But there was no time to dwell on the impossible. He had to get to work on time. This was his first day, and it was going to go well. It had to go well. He didn't go to Harvard for nothing.

Plus, what kind of office building didn't have coffee of some sort? Even if it did taste like toilet water.

Dean walked out of the coffeehouse, careful not to spill the hot black brew on himself. The cafe was packed and they had run out of lids. He stirred the coffee with the little straw and started walking down the sidewalk.

He heard a beep and took out his phone from his pocket. It was a message from his brother, Sam.

'Hello, Dean. Just checking up to see how you're doing. I'm fine. Stanford is good. Hard, but good.'

He smiled and texted back a thumbs up emoticon. He slid his phone back into his pocket. All of a sudden, he hit something, which caused his scorching hot coffee to spill on his shirt.

"Shit." He cursed and looked up at what he hit.

Wide blue eyes filled his vision. "I am so sorry!"

"Ah- this was my favorite suit."

"I am so so so so sorry!" The other man said, eyes still wide. He was like a frightened puppy who had just been caught peeing in the house.

"It was my fault. I wasn't paying attention." Dean winced at the burn of the coffee.

"I was kind of just standing in the middle of the sidewalk, so I guess we're both to blame."

Dean smiled. "Ha. Yeah, I guess so."

He should've been mad, but for some reason he wasn't. Maybe it was the calming blue eyes of the man standing in front of him. Or it was the fact that he was attractive. Very attractive, actually. And young. Plus, he looked good in a suit. His dark hair matched his trousers and shoes. His trench coat was too big for him, but it fit him well somehow.

But the real stunning thing about him was how his blue eyes coincided with his tie of the same color. It made him look different than all of the other business men in the city. And Dean would know, for he had to kiss a lot of ass in this city to make it to where he was now.

"Maybe if you button up your blazer, and take off your tie it won't be visible?" The man suggested.

"Good idea." Dean took out a napkin from his jacket and dabbed at his shirt, getting as much of the coffee off as he could. He untied his tie and then buttoned up his suit jacket. "How's that?" He asked.

The other man took a deep intake of breath. "Nice. Good, I mean. You can't see the coffee anymore." He moved his hand in a circular motion before him.

Dean scratched the back of his head uncomfortably. "Well- uh- thanks. Well, not for causing my coffee crisis, but well, yeah. For helping me look presentable." He tucked his tie into his jacket pocket and extended his hand. "I'm Dean. Dean Winchester."

"I'm Cas- Castiel Novak." The other man shook his hand. "You can call me Cas. Most people do. Since it's such an odd name."

"Well it was nice to meet you. Aside from the collision. I need to catch a bus, though."

"Oh yeah. Well, maybe I could make it up to you and buy you a coffee sometime? I mean, to you know, to apologize." Castiel dug his hands into his pockets.

"Sure. How about tomorrow morning? It's usually not as busy on Tuesday."

"Yeah. Yeah that sounds good." Castiel smiled as if he accomplished something. "I'll see you tomorrow morning then."

"See you then." Dean winked and walked away.
