"Ross!" You squealed as Ross scooped you up in his arms, tossing you over his shoulder. You begin to bang on his muscular back as he runs towards the lake with you dangling over his shoulder. You both are laughing loudly and you knew everyone's eyes were on the two of you on the beach.
Ross drops you in the water once he dashes into deeper water. You plunge in the lake with a splash, the water devouring you. You breathe out a gasp once you reach the surface, glaring at your foolish boyfriend.
"What was that for?" You pout, putting a hand through your wet, stringy hair.
"I dunno," he shrugs with a smirk on his face. You growled in annoyance, shaking your head. You both begin to splash and swim around for a little while longer, just enjoying each other's company.
It was the second day of your vacation with Ross, which was obviously camping. You two were staying in a rustic, yet very cozy cabin for a week–but the downside was that it was with your very obnoxious family. You and Ross have been dating for half a year now, and your parents insisted you bring your boyfriend along so they can bond with him. They knew how serious the two of you were, and you thought it was sweet how much they cared—but it gets kind of embarrassing.
And irritating. Whenever you and Ross just want to spend time alone, your parents and siblings have to tag along. For swimming, hiking leisurely, viewing on mountain peaks–everything.
"Hey you," Ross purrs, snaking his arms around your waist. He reels you in his chest, the two of you just in each other's arms in waist-length water. You wrap your arms around his neck, tangling your fingers through his wet locks.
"You're cute," you smile, pecking a kiss on the tip of his nose.
This causes Ross to grin widely.
"Yeah?" He lights up like a cute puppy. "How so?"
"You just are," you shrugged simply, stealing a kiss on his lips. As you begin to pull away, your bring his bottom lip between your teeth and nibble on it teasingly.
"You shouldn't have done that," his honey eyes darkened. You shuddered as you felt his fingers grazing over your collarbone.
"Why not?" You bat your eyelashes innocently.
"Dammit," Ross groans, causing you to giggle. "Say something to turn me off, please. Or else I may just take you right here in this lake water in front of your parents." The way he says this turns you on.
Just to think last night you two were cuddling by the campfire, roasting fluffy marshmallows. And this morning you two were walking on the trails deep in the forest–your parents along, of course–intertwining hands.
And now, here you two are flirting and staring at each other with lust. In a lake with little kids and other families around—including yours. Quite a weird couple the two of you were, but you loved him nonetheless.
The rest of the day goes on nicely, just enjoying the scenery of nature and being with Ross. At evening, after you bathed, changed and ate dinner with your family, Ross has the idea of sneaking off.
It was nearing eight 'o' clock, and the sun was already setting.
"I want to show you something," Ross tugs on your hand.
"We can't just leave," you remind him. "My family will freak!"
"They're in the cabin playing a board game," Ross says. "We won't be gone long, I promise."
"Okay," you heaved a sigh, allowing Ross to guide you wherever. He leads you off the path, which you feel frightened of, slightly. It was nearing dark and you guys could get lost. "You're not planning on murdering me, are you?" You ask jokingly.
"Maybe," Ross hums humorously. "Just c'mon," he grabs your hand, leading you farther off the path. After a few more minutes of walking, Ross announced that you two have arrived the destination.
"What is this?" You ask, seeing nothing around. You two were on the edge of a cliff, where he silently orders you to sit with him. You snuggle up next to him on the rock, looking out over the acres of trees.
Just when you were beginning to think your boyfriend has gone insane, a whistle and a crack echo off the tall trees surrounding you. You immediately glance up at the dark sky, gasping at the sighting of colorful streaks piercing through the dark sky. More follow, sparkly and vibrant in color.
Fireworks.
"They're beautiful," you said in awe, wrapping your arm around his. You lay his head on his shoulder, gazing upwards.
"I saw them going late last night when I was brushing my teeth," Ross tells me. "I thought it would be a romantic way to get away from your parents for awhile."
You hummed in agreement. It was a romantic idea. Simple, yet very nice.
These are the small things that make you fall in love with him more and more each day. He never fails to amaze you—even in the middle of the woods with your wacky family.
How did you get so lucky?
"I'm so in love with you, Ross," you tell him honestly. You two first told each other that you love each other a month ago, but this time was different. You were saying you were in love with him. Awfully more powerful and meaningful.
Ross's head turns, his beautiful eyes boring into yours.
"I'm way in love with you, Y/N," he whispers before softly presses his lips against yours. Once again, the mood has changed. Cuddly, to horny and now romantic and lovey. Only Ross could make you feel this type of way.
But in a sense, you were glad it was him.
