The neon blue digits on your alarm clock read: 12:50a.m. It was nearly one in the morning and you were still tossing and turning underneath the satin crème sheets of your bed. You could find a comfortable position, nor could you shut an eye. If you did shut your eyes, waiting for sleep to engulf you, flashes of your boyfriend's face would return to you.
It was not a bad thing, obviously...but the look he had on his face was something indescribable.

He was smiling brightly, showing off his perfectly pearly white teeth. His honey brown eyes were glimmering more than they ever had in his entire life that he has known you. You have never seen him this way, not even you could make him smile that widely and that mesmerizing twinkle visible in his dazzling eyes.

In fact, someone–another girl–was causing this type of reaction. She has long silky hair, ambitious blue eyes, great taste in fashion, confidence, a slender figure...
She had everything every girl would desperately want to have. Something you thought–knew–you could never have.

Ross met this girl at a party you two attended together. It was a cookout on Ross's friend property, the hostess of the gathering. The party was casual, simply celebrating the beginning of summer. You were never much of a party seeker, but you obliged to go as Ross's date since he was so thrilled to be there. You wanted nothing more than to make him happy.

But as you stood nearby the coolers filled with icy beverages, you were baffled and slightly jealous as you spotted your boyfriend of five months with another girl. Not just any girl, though. This girl was stunning, so much more beautiful than you, you assumed. Ross was chatting away with her, laughing at everything she said. He had this glow on his face, an expression you have never seen before on him while he was with you.

It broke your heart, to say the least. Possibly you were overreacting, because you knew Ross was too amazing of a person to cheat–but you couldn't help but compare yourself to this gorgeous, skinny girl.

Lately you have been slacking off on exercising and withholding a healthy diet, shimmying you way off into the deep end. You always managed a healthy weight, but those late-night, shameful snacking had caught on. Apparently from your BMI measurements, you are eight pounds overweight than normal for your height and age. You have desperately trying to get back in shape, but those cravings always overpower you.

Ross never mentioned anything of you added weight, he never would, but you were positive he took a notice of this. Compared to this girl he was flirting with at the cookout, she had a small waist, long, tanned legs, a flat, toned stomach, a narrow face...
She was flawless.

You felt sick, absolutely sick. Ross knows for a fact she is much more beautiful than you, and it only made you feel insecure about yourself.

Was Ross embarrassed to be seen with you? Does he think you are ugly now? Is he planning to breakup with you, but feels pity towards you so he won't go through with it?

These pondering questions were driving you insane. You could barely look in the mirror lately, or stand the thought of eating anything at the moment.

The next day you drag your restless body out of bed, forced to face reality in your skin. You felt disgusting with your stomach dangling over your waistband, chubby cheeks, and thick thighs.

You were not only insecure about your body, but you were more afraid of losing your boyfriend over this.

After you finish getting ready for the day, your phone buzzes on your nightstand. You stalk over to the table, scooping the device up in your hands.
