"Freddie is a drug lord," he said.
I think I blinked twice and maybe opened my mouth a couple of times but nothing came out. A drug lord?! Then Walter must be involved in all of this! Does Claire know what her ex-boyfriend was doing all this time?
"Are you-Freddie-you-WHAT?!"
"Angela if I'm going to tell you the story, you have to stay sane."
"This is dangerous information, Dylan! Aren't you afraid I would rat you out?!"
"Believe it or not angel, I trust you. And after everything we've put you through you have the right to know what is going on. And besides telling on us won't do you any good."
He had a point, this will only lead to more murders and none of the cases would see the light, they will all get dismissed just like....
"I met Cameron when I was fifteen," he began and thus interuppted my thoughts, "He was a dropout whom I looked up to because he was so cool and popular on the streets, I knew he was a drug dealer and I knew this was illegal but I liked Cam so I didn't care how he got his money. Later that year he asked me if I wanted to make some extra cash, I was thrilled, he was gonna let me in on his business and soon I would be hanging out with all these dope ass gangs so I said yes.
"Maybe that was a stupid decision but when you live in the slums you don't dream about becoming a doctor or an engineer, these noble professions aren't for people like me. You just have one goal and it's to escape.
"My job was simple to say the least; sell the drugs and keep a wide eye on the cops. With the money I was making, I was on top of the world, I had power and I was invincible but things started to get out of hand when I found out my cousin was doing drugs and Cameron was her supplier, they had an affair going on and he got her into this whole thing, I never forgave him.
"I tried talking to her, I even forced her to stop for a while but I couldn't pull her out of her addiction. I think I quit selling drugs after my cousin died of OD. I felt guilty and I didn't want to be a part of this anymore, she was like a sister to me and I lost her. Cam, on the other hand, needed the money he was basically selling his morals to get cash and it doesn't sound right but he didn't have a choice.
"I couldn't just quit the gang and move on with my life, it wasn't that easy, instead I stayed and got another job: Freddie's bodyguard and thats's how I met Luca; he was Freddie's chauffeur back then and we got along pretty well. Cameron became a bodyguard too later that year. By then, I was kicked out of the house and living with these two, my parents didn't tolerate this lifestyle and were afraid it would affect my siblings and well I can't blame them for worrying. After we met Lauren, Freddie's niece, things began to change. She liked us actually more than liked us, Cameron and her had a very intimate relation and that got us closer to Freddie and next thing you know we were his hitmen and favorite gang members, I guess."
I was completely dumbfounded and not in a good way, these were serious confessions that can destroy the whole gang.
"Won't you get in trouble for telling me all of this?"
"It's not like I let you on our gang secrets, I just told you the story of how Cam, Luca and I ended up together and what we do for a living. I am aware the words "drug lord" and "hitmen" are enough to get us behind bars but you only know this so going to the police won't make you a hero since you don't have solid proof evidence and you can't locate us," he explained nonchalantly.
"So why did you tell me your story? To gain my sympathy so I keep quiet?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Hell no, I'm don't need you to pity me. I just felt like you should know what you got yourself into and who you're messing with."
