"You wanna go to the beach today?" Nate asked. We were in the kitchen trying to squeeze the fun out of the Internet, a trip to the beach sounds like a good idea; it is a fairly hot day.

"You're bored, aren't you?"

"Like hell."

"Language."

"Sorry," he mumbled.

"Go grab your swimsuit and ask Claire if she wants to tag in."

"Nathan?!" I heard Claire's footsteps stomping down the stairs.

"What's this?" she asked holding a bunch of papers in her hand.

"I've been doing some research," Nathan said as he went to the fridge and pulled out a water bottle.

"What research?!" Claire yelled, "Seems like you're looking for someone."

I took the papers from her to skim them, they were DNA tests and screenshots from different Facebook profiles. The users were all men and they had the same physical traits; green eyes and brown hair. "Just like Nathan," I thought. Some looked like him and lived between Claire's hometown and here.

"Claire calm down," I said, still reading the information printed out on these papers.

"Maybe I am," Nathan said.

"Oh you are?!" Claire exclaimed, "Who are you looking for, huh?"

"Claire it might not be what you think it is,"

"My father."

"Dammit Nathan," I thought, "This is exactly what she's thinking."

I thought her eyeballs might pop out of their sockets because of how mad she was, I knew this day would come sooner or later but I guess Claire needed more time to prepare to have this talk with her son.

"WHY WOULD YOU EVEN CONSIDER LOOKING FOR HIM?! HUH?!" she was full on yelling at Nate at that point.

"BECAUSE I HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW WHO MY FATHER IS AND WHY DID HE WALK OUT ON US!" Nathan barked back.

"YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT STORY NATHAN SO YOU DON'T NEED TO LOOK FOR FURTHER DETAILS!"

"GUYS JUST CALM DOWN!" I quickly interfered. I know Nathan and I know he won't rest until he gets the answers he's seeking, Claire had came up with a whole new story about Nathan's dad and basically lied about everything. He's needs a fatherly figure during these times and in his mind his father is an alcoholic irresponsible grown up who might be forgiven if he had a good excuse for why he "walked out on them" but Nathan doesn't know he was the product of nonconsensual intercourse, he doesn't know what a bad person his father is, and he doesn't know what great pain this man had caused his mother. He doesn't know the endless therapy sessions and the medications and the tears and the fallouts, he just doesn't know and no one can blame him for what he's doing.

"HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CALM ANGY WHEN MY OWN SON IS GOING BEHIND MY BACK TRYING TO FIND THAT BASTARD?!"

"Claire he doesn't know the truth!"

"What truth?"

"That you're father is a fuck up who deserves to rot in hell!"

"You're only mad because he left you with a huge responsibility but he might've had his reasons back then!"

"God, God, God!" Claire turned around and held her head while pleading. "HE DIDN'T LEAVE US YOU IDIOT JUST OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE WHAT A BAD PERSON HE IS!"

"He didn't leave?" Nathan was taken back a little, "Then what really happened?"

"Claire just relax, you're saying things you shouldn't say and you're clearly taking wrong decisions," I spoke quietly.

"Go to your room," she ordered through clenched her jaw, "GO TO YOUR ROOM NATHAN!"

Nathan stormed out of the kitchen without saying a word.

"YOU'RE GROUNDED. NO PHONE, NO LAPTOP, NO WIFI, NO VIDEO GAMES AND I BETTER NOT FIND A COPY OF THIS SHIT IN MY HOUSE!"

"Claire, you're being a little rough on him."

"I don't want to hear anything right now Angy," she said before leaving the house.

Great just the right amount of action I needed to spice up my day.
