My eyes began to flutter open to loud yelling. I groaned slightly and rubbed my eyes before opening them completely.
The sky had become black and a full moon was on display with a few shining stars spread across the sky. It was a cloudless night and I was still lying in the flower field. "Amelia!" I heard yet again someone yelling out my name in return causing me to scrunch my eyebrows. I slowly sat up only to let out a painful groan from laying on the hard ground for hours. "Amelia!" I turned my head looking for the source of the yelling, but saw nothing.
I waited a few more moments for my eyes to adjust to the dark and was met with a pair of glowing eyes. I gasped and squinted my eyes to focus on the unmoving object standing only a few feet from me. The eyes were a yellowish color and glowed like the full moon.
"Amelia! Where are you?!" I shook off the voices calling out for me and tried focusing in on the mysterious object. It took a step forward, coming into a ray of light from the castle and I gasped in shock and a mixture of fright. A large wolf stood staring into my eyes. It's fur a grayish black with black paws and a long snout. I never lost eye contact as I began to hear footsteps crunch against the fallen leaves of the hedges lining this magical place. It's ears were perked up as it watched me with its glowing eyes intently.
I swallowed deeply and I cautiously scooted back a bit only resulting in it snarling its lip and letting out a low growl. I froze in my spot and watched with wide eyes as I could feel the blood rushing from my face. It's canine teeth were long and pointed and it was a rather large wolf. My breathing picked up pace as my name was called out once again. The wolves' ears perked up toward the entrance and just like that it was gone. It left so fast it made me wonder if my mind was just playing tricks on me or not.
I gasped and jumped as I felt a hand place on my shoulder snapping me from my thoughts. "Amelia. What are you doing out here? You look like you've seen a ghost. You okay?" I blinked rapidly and nodded. "Yeah. Yeah. I'm fine." My voice trembled slightly, but he brushed it off as he helped me up. "What were you doing out here this late at night?" I met his bright blue eyes as his large hand grasped ahold of mine and started to lead the way back to the entrance of the maze.
I looked back over my shoulder to see the same glowing eyes looking back at me before disappearing into the woods. A chill ran down my spine and I looked up at Niall. "I was out exploring earlier and just fell asleep." "You know it's dangerous to be out here at night. Let's get you inside." I nodded my head and dared myself not to look back again before walking back through the large wooden doors that led to this astounding garden.
