Chapter 28

Louis pov 😇

  I'm so happy that I followed my instinct and went to the auction. If I hadn't gone, I would've never found my mate nor would have any of the lads found theirs. She is perfect without even trying to be. 

  Now our mate bond will be even stronger with her becoming a werewolf. I would have never wished this upon her because I would have never wanted her to suffer the pain and consequences of becoming one. I will support her and be there every step of the way because there is no way that me or my wolf will leave her side. 

  I awoke to my beautiful mate whimpering softly against my chest. I pried my eyes open and looked down at her small frame curled into my chest. I instantly felt a frown form on my face as I wrapped my arms around her and held her close. She whimpered into my hold causing my frown to deepen. I rocked her back and forth gently until she took a deep breath and slowly pulled away leaving me with an empty feeling. 

  I reached my hand up to her cheek, sliding the back of it down her soft skin. "I'm so sorry that this happened to you." I could hear my voice cracking as empathy took over and tears pooled in my eyes. I refused to let them fall down my face as she met my gaze. She held my face in her small, warm hands. "None of this is your fault." 

  I mentally smiled, but chose to change the subject and lighten the mood. "What would you like to do today?" She was about to reply until her face fell. My wolf cried out to find out why. "Liam said there was an issue." I instantly froze and held her closer to my chest without even realizing it. "When?" I searched her eyes closely wondering how much she knew. "Before you woke up." She furrowed her brows in confusion when I dazed off. 

  'What's going on?' I asked Liam through our mind link. There was a pause before a rushed, short answer. 'Rogues.' I cut off the mind link and my eyes shot to Amelia's. 

  "You need to stay here. Lock the door. I'll be back." I firmly stated before lifting her off my lap. I felt her small fingers wrap around my forearm and hold me in place. "Don't leave me." My wolf whimpered at the expression she was giving me, but I convinced him that I needed to do this for her protection. "I will be back." She pouted, trying anything to make me stay. It was all I could do to set her on the bed and begin to walk away. "Can the girls stay with me?" She pleaded. 

  'Where are the girls?' 'Locked away in the safe room.' 'I'm taking Amelia there. Where are the rogues?' 'Garden.' 

  I turned around to her quickly grabbing her wrist and pulling her up. "Where are we going?" She asked before breathing deeply and bending over in pain once again. I bent over picking her up bridle style quickly not wanting to waste a moment of her safety. "The safe room." She whimpered into my shoulder as I rushed out of the room. 

  My wolf was on high alert with danger very close to our mate. She curled into a tighter ball in my arms. I felt my wolf on edge and began to shake. I shoved him down for now convincing him that we had to get her safe. Before I knew it we were arriving at the wooden door that led to the small office. I could tell that she was holding back a scream of pain when we reached the secret door. "Hold on, baby." I cooed quietly, pressing certain keys on the piano before the bookshelves separated and slid into the walls. I rushed in before they closed and walked down the spiral staircase. 

  "Louis!" I heard Dani cry out as they all rushed to me. "What's going on?" I ignored the question and walked over to the couch sitting in the middle of the room. I laid Amelia as gently as possible on the soft surface and brushed her long hair out of her face. I kissed her forehead. "I love you." She met my eyes briefly before squeezing them closed and whimpering in pain. My wolf reached the service again as agony washed over her face. It broke my heart to leave her like this but I knew that I had no other options. 

  "What's going on?" Dani repeated her question looking back and forth between Amelia and I questionably. "I'll be back. Take care of her. Please." She nodded but kept a look of confusion written on her face. I took one last glance at Amelia before quickly leaving the room ready to attack the rogues that threatened to harm my queen.
