14. Birthday Girl

-Karlie come back- Cara says trying to convince her friend to go back home now that she has heard what had happened at Taylor's place with her family. 

-I can't- Karlie denies.

-You can, it's just that you don't want to- Cara sighs. 

-It's complicated Cara- Karlie insists. 

-Look... I understand that Taylor lied to you but take just a minute to think about why she has done it- Cara asks her. 

-I don't care- Karlie says being stubborn, but Cara has known her for so many years to know why she is being like that. 

-Karlie, listen to me ok?- Cara asks. 

-Cara I called you to tell you what happened not to push me and try to convince me about what to do- Karlie says annoyed. 

-If you are going to be this way I'm going to hung up the phone- Cara threatens her- and I know that you need someone to talk so... you can listen to me or you can go and talk with Taylor. 

-I'm listening- Karlie accepts after a long minute of silence. 

-Look... have you stopped for just a second to think that maybe Taylor hasn't talked about it for the same reason as you have avoided that topic?- Cara asks and the line goes silent again, she's making Karlie realizes the truth of that situation but Cara still wants to push her a little bit more- Karlie... I'm not taking Taylor's side on this I just want you to understand that maybe... she is afraid just like you are. 

-I'm not- Karlie protests and even if Cara can't see her she knows that KArlie has crossed her arms like a little child. 

-Just think about it Karlie- Cara insists- you where the one who told me that you didn't want to even think about the possibility of Taylor going back to Nashville because it hurts you.

-So what?- Karlie asks. 

-I could kill you right now- Cara says feeling really frustrated- Look Karlie, it hurts you, you are scared and that's why you didn't want to talk about it either because you don't want to think about the possibility of Taylor going away and leaving you and that's probably why Taylor didn't want to talk about it either! Think about it please.

-Well... maybe it's that or maybe she just lied- Karlie admits but her tone is more relaxed now, deep down she knows Cara is right. 

-Stop being stubborn- Cara warns her again- You are just taking this opportunity to run away from her before she can hurt you more telling you that at the end of the summer she is going to leave you and...

-Shut up- Karlie interrupts her but Cara wants to break her to make her understand the truth.

-No, you don't want to talk about that topic with Taylor because you don't want to hear what she has to say about it and you are afraid and blaming her for this when in fact you were the first one avoiding this topic...

-Stop- Karlie protests again. 

-You are afraid of a broken heart and not trusting anyone like her and...

-STOP!- Karlie yells finally letting her emotions run wild- you are right ok? That's what you wanted to hear?

-No Karlie, I didn't want to hear it or make you upset, I wanted you to realize what you are doing running away from her- Cara explains. 

-Cara I don't want to think about the idea of Taylor leaving me- Karlie finally admits. 

-I know Karlie but you need to have that conversation- Cara sighs- look, I know how happy you are with her but you don't know what is going to happen, maybe you can try to have a long distance relationship or maybe Taylor moves here after she finishes school, you don't know Karlie but you need to try at least to talk about it because believe me, it's worst if you just wait until the last minute before she goes to do it.
