It was a normal tuesday morning. I arrived at work early and slowly started the work of the day. About half an hour later Percy arrived. He shook the rain out of his hair and sighed, welcoming the heath.
"This storm is crazy man. I wouldn't be surprised if the streets flooded." He shrugged off his coat and threw it behind the counter. "Percy, last time that happened, America was still called 'The new world'. It won't happen, our water defences are too strong."
Percy glared at me and walked into the room at the back of the shop to change into his uniform.
I bent down to pick up Percy's coat and hang it away when a voice behind me..hissed? "The healer returns." "Percy, you scared me." But when I turned around I came eye to eye with a creature. It was half transparent, half grey flesh. In the hollow eye sockets lay small red eyes, and pointed teeth were permanently exposed due to the lack of lips.
"Healer, your work is worthless. Soon the world will collapse and magic will take over. Your cause is doomed. Give up and let the Darkness consume you."
It knocked over the rack with cups. The noise that errupted from its mouth next can only be described as a devilish laugh, mixed with a snarl.
"Nico, what's happening there?" Percy's voice came from the back room, and the creature turned towards the door. "Nothing, I knocked over the rack with cups when i heard my new ringtone." While I made sure Percy stayed in the backroom I kicked the monster so its attention turned back to me.
Fortunatly, Percy believed me and didn't come check on me. I turned to the monster, my hands searching for the chain necklace. Finally my fingers ran across the chain. I yanked it free, and lay it in the plam of my hand. The skull pendant slowly changed shape, becoming thinner and longer, turning in a sword.
The sword glowed with the light of the blessed. Before the creature could comprehend what was happening, I swung my sword into its midrif. It desolved into thin air, leaving behind a chill.
My sword turned back into the skull pendant on a chain. I put it over my head and walkd over to the mess. When i kneeled down to clean up the fallen cups, Percy walked back in holding a new stck of cups.
We cleaned up the mess and started the day. We didn't have many customers due to the weather. The shop was tucked away in a corner of a mall and on rainy days we hardly have customers. The day wasn't very eventful, until about an hour before we closed.
Leo had been trying to give the coffee machine an update and in the process the machine exploded coffee over the entire counter. I was cleaning the coffee off of the checkout, when my pendant grew hot.
That indicated that something or someone important was about to happen. The pendant tapped from my energy for warmth as the grew hotter and hotter.
The bell rang. Someone had entered. The room started spinning and black dots appeared for my eyes.i felt numb all over, only feeling the burning heath of my necklace. "Hello." I barely registed the voice.
With my last bit of energy I glanced up and saw a feck of gold. Then I passed out.
A/N update. I promise that it will soon get more intereting, pls bare with me.
