Italy's POV
It's been one year since Ludwig's accident. I sat in the bed, hugging me knees as tears escaped my eyes in sadness. Gilbert and Elizabeta were sitting on the other side as they were waiting for him to wake up. My whole body was shaking in the fear of him not waking up.
"You'll need some time together. Come on, Liz, we should go," Gilbert said as Elizabeta nodded and the two stepped out of the room. I stared at Ludwig's heart monitor that was at a steady beat, as I saw his unconscious body laying there, and has stayed in that position for years.
"Are you him?" I asked, in a quiet voice, turning to look at his face. "Are you, HRE?"
My whole body was trembling as I put my hand on his cold arm, as the touch made tears fall down. "W-Will you remember me? When, you wake up?" I asked as there was obviously no response.
"When you wake up...and you remember things still...can you, tell me what happened in that one year you were sleeping? Maybe you were in an endless nightmare, of your life flashed before your eyes!" I exclaimed in the horror as my eyes widened in a vision I had.
"What if...you don't...wake up?"
I didn't want to imagine it, but the image was implanted in my brain. Until he wakes up, that's what I thought of. Every day of the year when he was gone, I thought of the fear of him not waking up.
Lovino even had to suggest for me to see a psychologist or a therapist because of this. So I did, though they said it could only be cured if I could see what would happen to Ludwig in the end. So for a full year, I've been suffering like this. I even attempted of hanging myself once, but Elizabeta caught me and stopped me.
I had to fake my happiness everyday. If he was the one that had kept it alive, and the possibilities are high that he is HRE. If he isn't, then, it's...it's because he doesn't remember!
"Please...wake up..," I said and laid my head over his chest as I started to sob uncontrollably. "Wake up..."
"Lud-Chan wake up!" I exclaimed, sobbing with my tears landing on his hospital clothes. I looked at him in the eye, shaking my head.
"If you don't wake up, I won't wake up either!" I exclaimed as I sat there, crying. Crying over the fact that he might not wake up.
"Feliciano, I could here you all the way outside. Maybe, you should rest," Elizabeta said, walking inside, and putting a hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off, still crying.
"I'll rest here," I announced as Elizabeta nodded.
"Okay, just, don't work yourself over. I know how much he means to you. When he wakes up, I'm sure you have to be the first person he'll see," Elizabeta said and waved, exiting out of the room again.
I rested my head on Ludwig's stomach, since sometimes it felt as light as a pillow. I sighed, closing my eyes, counting sheep, and trying to fall asleep.

"Feliciano....," I could hear someone call my name as I opened my eyes, turning to see Ludwig's eyes opened, and he had a worried expression on his face. "I'm sorry, if I woke you up."
"Luddy!" I exclaimed with joy, hugging him in glee. I sobbed tears of joy while clinging onto him tightly, grinning like the idiot Lovino often calls me.
"Ow! You're hugging too tight," Ludwig said as I let go of him, wiping my tears of joy away, and laughing.
"I need to call Gilbert and Elizabeta!" I exclaimed and reached for my phone in my pocket.
"Italy, wait," Ludwig said as my eyes widened in shock. I turned to see him and almost dropped my phone.
"Italy? That's the country I was from! I'm not Italy of course, I'm Feliciano!" I exclaimed as Ludwig's expression changed, into an expression of confusion.
"N-No...wait...Feliciano. I don't remember it much, but, I remember being in, something like the place of Hitler. And, I was, the country of Germany or something..," I said as I was shocked.
"That's cool! So, why did you say wait and not tell Gilbert and Elizabeta? Or, call them to say that you're alive?" I asked as Ludwig shook his head, unsure of what to say, according to the fact that he was stammering. And I knew Ludwig ever since, I thought that HRE was on a trip to France, and he died there.
"Because...I regained memory..," Ludwig said, holding his hand to his forehead as if he just saw a bad memory. "I was nearly killed on a trip to France, then I lost all of my memory when I came back due to a huge concussion. I was nicknamed 'HRE' in a group I was in with you, and Elizabeta, and Roderich. Then, I thought you were a girl and... crazy memories..."
"Luddy," I said and hugged him a second time. "I knew you were HRE, Elizabeta told me! I want to here about this country thing! Do you think that Gilbert and Elizabeta would want to hear it too?" I asked him as he nodded. I reached for my phone in my pocket and called Elizabeta first, then Gilbert.

"So in the end you were the country of Prussia and, you died and dissolved, while Elizabeta was the country of Hungary. She married Austria once, then divorced I believe during or after World War 1. I woke up at this past memory of getting a push broom," Ludwig said as Elizabeta was in shock.
"That sounds like an amazing story!" Elizabeta exclaimed as Gilbert nodded in agreement.
"Since you've been out for a year, you should know something. You and Feliciano," Gilbert said as Hungary took out her hand from her pocket, revealing a diamond ring on her ring finger.
"We're going to get married soon," they both said with a smile on his face.
"Wh-What?" Ludwig asked, confused.
"Yay! Elizabeta and Gilbert!" I exclaimed with a smile.
I'm just glad to have this happy ending. Ludwig waking up, and Elizabeta and Gilbert getting married. Even if I wasn't the main character in this different story, it's still a happy ending to me.
