Always Awake

Chapter 21

I was at home for a change. I am never really there anymore, everything is starting to come unfamiliar. But mum is starting to ease out of her crisis, which is a relief for us all.

"I'm going out!" I called heading for the door.

"Ellie wait!" Mum shouted after me.

"What?"

"Your never here anymore, has something happened?"

"No I'm just going to Jack's"

"Why? He is such a bad influence on you"

"Trust me, he's not" I confirmed

"He could easily be with someone else...Ellie, he isn't pressuring you into doing stuff you don't want to do, is he?"

"Ew no! Mum how could you even think of that!"

"Surely he can spare a day without you"

"He needs me"

"Incorrect, he wants you"

"No mum he needs me, okay? Bye mum".

I was annoyed at her for saying things like that. Does she seriously think he is that bad a person?

I arrived at Jack's angry and heated.

"Woah woah, calm down. It's ok, people always think the worst of me, it's nothing new"

"Jack...it's not okay. Everyone is making false assumptions! You don't deserve to be treated like that, no one does. Your not a bad person" I protested.

"Yes I am"he laughed.

"No you're not"

"I am"

"Stop it! Jack stop talking shit about yourself, it's only going to lower your self esteem. Be positive"

"It couldn't get any lower, trust me"

"Well in that case, you aren't doing good to anyone by saying things like that. You want to get better don't you?"

"I'm not worth the fight"

Why is being so negative?

I was getting pissed now.

"Listen to me Jack. I mean every fucking word I'm about to say. You are worth it. You are always going to be loved, even if it's only one person. You are going to pull through, because your strong. Your stronger than you think. Tell yourself you can do this, because I know you can"

Jack looked at me shocked.

"Why?...Why do you care about me so much"

"Because...I think I'm in love with you. I can't imagine life without you Jack. No one is like you. No one has that smile that could light the world up. No one can compare to you"

That's when I saw that missing smile. The one I was longing before. The one I missed. I smiled back at him.

"Wanna try something new?"

"Sure!" I exclaimed, but I wasn't so sure.

We arrived in front of a hotel. "What are we doing here?" I asked, gazing up till my neck facing upwards looking up at all the stories.

"You'll see" he smirked.

Jack took hold of my hand, and pulled me into the hotel lobby. "Wow" I said in awe. The marble floor was shining, tall pillars surrounded the surreal room, a receptionist was handing out gold keys to wealthy people. Their cases were whisked away and they were greeted with a glass of champagne.
