Chapter 18

"So what would you like to do, for a career?" Connie asked as she laid cuddled up with Jacob on the couch, with Mason sat at the other end cuddling Tali.
"Actually I'm taking Chemistry, Maths and Human Biology for my A-levels. I've applied for medical school here in Bristol" Mason replied.
"Wow, that's... That's amazing" Jacob said, he was so proud of his son when hearing this.
Connie smiled and cuddled further into Jacob, "have you got any experience? Working in a hospital at all?" she asked.
"Not really, I cared for my grandmother, Julia's mum, for a while but it was never at a hospital" he replied.

"If you wanted to, I could get you some work at the ED. Porter, HCA, it would give you some brownie points on the medical school front, and would help you with medical knowledge. We could teach you some basic procedures, give you a head start on practical skills" Connie explained.
"Really? If you could do that then it would be great" Mason smiled.
"Which would you rather do? I can get something sorted pretty much straight away with the HCA job" Jacob said.
"Well that does seem better, I'd get to be around the patients a bit more I guess" he replied.
"I'll have a word with Charlie tomorrow then, that's my boss and your mums best friend" Jacob told him.
"Thanks dad" Mason said.
Connie grinned up at Jacob who smiled and kissed her lips gently, "I love you" he whispered.
"I love you too" she replied.

"You two really are unbelievably cute, and I'll be honest, when I came looking for you dad, I never expected to find you and mum together" Mason said.
"Really? Why?" Jacob chuckled.
"You were so young, and after thinking your child had died, that's a lot to go through. I guess I just thought it would have torn you apart" he admitted.
"We had our ups and downs, but it only made us stronger. We new we had to stick together, because we love each other, and we wanted a family together" Connie told him.
"Tali was planned then?" Mason asked.
"Yes, we'd always been skeptical about getting pregnant again but being realistic we knew that the chance of us losing another child was slim. So we waited until we were both happy with our careers and relationship, then we tried again" she replied.

Mason smiled, "when did you get married?" he asked.
Connie smirked, "yeah Jacob, when did we get married?" she asked.
"Err... We... The... Augtember" he stuttered.
"October 14th 2009" Connie said.
"Yeah I knew that" Jacob laughed nervously.
"Really? Did you?" she asked.
"Yeah course babe, happiest day of my life" he replied.
"Funny that, because I lied. August 19th Jacob" Connie told him.
Mason started laughing as Jacob gulped, "sorry babe" he said.
"I should hope so. You're in for it Mr" she laughed.
"I know, washing up duty for a week" Jacob groaned.
She laughed and pecked his lips, "next time you should remember our wedding date" she said.
