"What was that?" Sebastian asked, smiling mysteriously.
"Nothing, she just reminds me of someone," the young master answered quietly, turning to look out the window. "And, Sebastian,"
"Yes my lord?"
"While we're touching the subject of resemblances... Why do you look so much like my father?"
"It was a means of comfort to you," the butler explained, placing a hand on his master's head. As Ciel turned to look at him, he almost saw the image of Vincent Phantomhive, but it faded back into Sebastian quickly.
"But that isn't really how you really look, is it?"
"Not at all, my lord. Now, no more talk. It's time for me to bid you goodnight."
Ciel watched his butler exit the room, then turned to look back out the window.
The memory suddenly began to sting again. It never hurt this bad since he summoned Sebastian. His mother. His father. Their presence seemed to be weighing on him heavily. He would give anything to have them back. But it was an irrational thought. They were but memories now, and he'd rather not waste his time on wishing for the impossible. He was grateful for the one thread of hope he did have.
