Ciel tampered with the lock on the cage feverishly, but Undertaker held him back. "Earl..." he told him softly, making him stop and turn to face him. "It's no use. I've studied the substance thoroughly. There's no chance of saving them, even if you were to free them. They will die, or perhaps spread and strengthen the poison." There was a silence between them. "I know it's in them. That's the only reason they've survived these conditions for so long. It preserved them, but will soon stop their hearts... painfully."

Ciel hung his head, clenching his fists.

"Earl? What's wrong?" the woman asked. "Aren't you... going to..."

"I'm sorry," Ciel told them, stepping away from the cell.

Undertaker looked to Grell, who pulled out her scythes. She then approached the prisoners, who screamed as the blades sliced through their flesh and the cinematic records vanished into the air.

"Huh," Grell shrugged. "I suppose this stuff had a link to the disappearing souls after all. It really does eat them alive..."

"It wouldn't surprise me," Undertaker put a finger to his chin. "That man is messing with divine things, which disgusts even me. All those people..." he sighed.

"We should make sure it's all destroyed for good," Ciel told them.

"Of course," Undertaker nodded. "The only other way to do so is if the vessel draws her final breath."

"Then we'll denature what's already dead," Ciel told them, handing Undertaker the torch and walking away.

Undertaker nodded, then threw the torch into the cell. It caught fire on one of the ragged garments, then began spreading slowly.
