AN: Hey guys! Sorry for the late update, I promise I'm not skipping out on you. I moved to college this week, so its been hectic the last week and a half to say the least. Updates might be a little slower for a bit. But the story will go on! Huzzah!

Things hadn't exactly gone to plan.

They had more or less taken a nosedive.

"Nightwing! You have to get him out of here!" I gasped. Robin was slung over my shoulders. I was carrying his limp form, but I couldn't hold him much longer.

Nightwing slammed his Kali stick into a Cadmus agent's head. "What happened? Hell! I told him not to go alone!" He ducked a punch and sent a flying kick into the second agent's chest. The men collapsed back.

"They gassed him. I don't know what it's doing! You have to get him out of here!"

"We can't leave without finishing the mission. You get him out of here and I'll-"

I cut him off with a piercing whistle. It was answered with a faint shrieking, angry neigh in the distance. By my calculation, I had maybe minute to convince him to get the hell out of dodge and leave me behind.
"Yes, someone needs to go back in there and pull that file out, wipe the drive. But there is no possible way I can get Robin out if you're doing that job- please Nightwing! If you take him there's a chance we finish this, if I take Robin he won't make it." I didn't have the required medical training of it came to it and he was fading. I also knew I couldn't hold him in the saddle for the ride back.

Nightwing didn't like that idea at all.

And our ensuing argument lasted almost too long before Nightwing said softly.

"Are you sure?"

"One hundred percent." I handed the unconscious Robin to his older sibling. Nightwing scooped him into his arms as Sitdka exploded into the building with a shriek.

My horse was wild eyed but stood still as Nightwing climbed into the saddle with Robin.
"I'll come back for you."

I nodded, knowing he would at least try.

"And Nightrider?"

I turned. "Yeah?"

"They'll never forgive me- or you- if you don't make it out."

I tried to imagine Jason's and Damian's and my best friends' reactions if I didn't survive. It was something I decided I really didn't want to put them through, but if worse came to worse?

I didn't promise Dick something I couldn't carry through on.

"Ride like the wind Nightwing."
I dove through the other door, back into the maze of the Cadmus complex.

-48 hours earlier-

"File's finished decrypting."

"Fingers crossed." I muttered. It was three days since our jaunt into the Cadmus facility, and by a miracle the codes had finally cracked. Miracle being the amount of sanity I still had after waiting so long.

I grew up being taught to face my fears.
I was pretty sure my parents had had public speaking or standing up to my friends in mind when they told me that, and probably not breaking into a secret facility to most likely get myself killed. Would they have been proud? Horrified?
