I woke up the next morning and walked to my window. A sunny day. That's rare in Oregon. Then my eyes roamed to the window. I smiled.
I saw him standing in front of a mirror fixing his long shaggy black hair. I heard my door open but I didn't move. After a couple seconds I turned around. Mikey stood there with his arms across his muscular chest.
"You could knock," I said coldly.
Maybe it was the unusually bright sun that made me have a bit of an attitude but I was feeling slightly irritated today.
Mikey furrowed his eyebrows, "What's up with you today?"
"My door is closed for a reason. The least you could have done was knock," I replied.
"I just wanted to see if you were okay after the almost car accident,"
"I'm fine," I lied. I wasn't fine. I had almost gotten hit by a car because I was bewildered by a boy. The boy that I looked at through the window.
"Are you sure?" Mikey questioned.
"Yes, Mikey I am fine,"
He rolled his eyes.
What's with everyone rolling their eyes at me?
"Did Kurt come home last night?" I asked, changing the subject.
"No," Mikey sighed.
"Oh. Have you heard from him?"
"Yeah, he called last night. Said that work is really busy and he won't be home tonight,"
I frowned.
"Do you want breakfast? Frankie's cooking," Mikey said, faking enthusiasm.
"Sure," I said.
I walked to the kitchen and sat at the table with Mikey and Frankie. Frankie made pancakes and muffins. He was no master chef, but at least he tried.
"So Layla, done peeping on that guy for the day?" Frankie asked.
I tilted my head and tried to think of something creative and snappy to say, but I failed.
"Shut up Frankie,"
"Hey, it's true. You can't deny it. You're smitten," Frankie said and smiled.
I blushed and looked the other way.
"See! It's true!"
"No comment," I responded.
They started laughing.
"Are you happy school is starting soon?" Mikey wondered.
"Ugh. Thanks for reminding me. No, I'm not excited at all. I hate school,"
"At least Ronnie will be coming back,"
I almost forgot. Ronnie is coming back from vacation soon. Thank god.
"Oh yeah, I forgot,"
Ronnie has been my best friend since about sixth grade. He's the only person that understands me, other then Mikey and Frankie. I have friends, of course, but nobody quite like Ronnie.
