"Wait, son!" I heard Joan yell down the hallway in which we were running.
Jess finally got to the tunnel that was completely dark and slowed down. He was completely silent. I was very curious as to why he got so worked up on me not being able to see my family again, so I started to speak.
"Soooo, um, what happened thirty years ago?" I asked patiently.
"I'll tell you later. For now, I need to get you away from my mother. She's planning something horrible... I don't want her hurting you like I've seen her do to others. I also need to tell you something that I haven't told you yet that I was going to tell you in the gallery... I am your protector."
