I read the tiny message at the top of my English paper. It said "Can we please talk' written in pen in the corner. Its been pretty awkward between David or Mr. Breuer and I lately. Its kind of hard to avoid your English teacher. But soon I would probably be living it up in fancy BSTA.
If Mrs. Linares thinks I have a shot why not go for it, the only problem was none of my friends knew, but it was just an application nothing was set in stone. I had already filled it out and written the essay, I was going to submit my painting of my friends and I. Just one more thing to do.
The bell rang and everyone started to leave. I walked up to Mr. Breuer's desk after the class was empty. "Listen I'm glad you stayed to talk because-"

"Actually I'm not here to talk about us."I cut him off. He sat back in his chair and waved his hand for me to proceed.

"Mrs. Linares thinks I'd have a better chance at getting in BSTA if I got my essay looked through by an English teacher and signed by you as well." I took out the essay from my bag and slid it over to him.

He looked practically dead, I couldn't read his expression correctly. "And why couldn't you pick another English teacher I don't want you to go in the first place." He sat up.

"Because they're not my English teacher. And before you were my kissing buddy you were my teacher" I leaned in real close to his face as if I was going to kiss him. He puckered his lips, ready. "Can you make sure it gets to Mrs. Linares' desk." I pulled away.

" I pulled away

I walked out of the classroom like a savage and into the halls, I made my way down to the art room. It was still empty except for Mrs. Linares and ugh Cece. I walked over to them. "I didn't know you took art." I said folding my arms at her.

"Art is simple, even a monkey could do it." She rolled her eyes.

"It seems so." I gave her and up down look.

She squinted her eyes at me and I pushed past her to Mrs. Linares. She was looking over a stack of artist statements. She looked up at me. "Oh Khari, Cece and I were just talking about the piece you were submitting." She smiled. I looked over at Cece.
