I finished plastering the picture up around the school which had broken my soul but I need to keep what I have with John. I had decided to come to the school early to hang them up so I wouldn't be caught in the act. I felt so guilty as I hung the very last one. My heart started to cringe a little. The only way I could get in the school was leaving the downstairs bathroom window cracked yesterday. But I had been here for an hour now and only had to hide from one janitor so far. I kinda felt like Kim Possible.
After my talk with Khari two days ago, I knew that the only way I could do this was full on power through and don't think about it. Which was harder to do I now realized. My phone started buzzing in my back pocket. It was Zailie.
"Hello?"
"Hey listen Tiffany I didn't know who else I should call so I called you.''
"Woah this is kinda serious. What's up?"
"Its Matt, he's in the hospital. We've been here since late yesterday, I didn't want to leave him alone and he didn't want me to call you, so I'm sneaking a call in to you."
"Oh my gosh." My heart started to beat. "Well what happen?"
"Well its his leg. It was some glass... Its a long story."
"Ok, text me what hospital. And I'll find a way to get there." I hung up. I made my way to one of the side entrances to the school being that the doors only locked from the inside. I quickly pulled out my phone and called up an uber. I couldn't ask my mom because she thinks I'm knee deep in books in the school library studying before homeroom.

I didn't have enough to pay the full price to my Uber driver who was a middle aged mother named, Freeda but after she heard the story of my ex boyfriend in the hospital she took the pocket change I had and drove me the full way. I couldn't thank the woman enough times. I hurried out of the car and made my way to his room after getting his room number from a tiny old lady behind the desk.I came up to the room and hugged Zailie who was anxiously waiting for me to come. "Good your here, he didn't want me to worry you but I had to. B.F.F.s honor." She joked holding a hand to her heart and one in the air. I hugged her again and we went inside together. Matt was in the hospital bed with a huge cast wrapped around his leg, he looked a little uncomfortable as he was faced the other way with the remote aimed at the television. He heard us come in but didn't look. "Damn basic cable. Hey Zailie do you mind asking the nurse for another pillow my back is-" he turned and saw the both of us in the door. "Zailie! I told you not to call her!"
She mouthed the word sorry to him and turned back to me." Listen I need to go shower and change. And I'm pretty sure my moms having a titty attack now." She zipped up her bomber jacket to prepare herself for the outdoors, gave me a slight smile and left.
He threw his arms up defeated. I made my way over to him. "So are we gonna talk about why you didn't want me here or what?" I said starting to playfully mess up his hair.He sighed. "I know about you and that John kid, and I didn't want you to feel obligated to come here."
"Obligated?" I asked and he nodded. "No, I came because I wanted to come, I came because I cared, I came because -"
He finished my thought. " because you know I'm in love with you and you're afraid to break my heart just as you did when we dated." He didn't even look up at me, he just went to fiddling with his hospital braclet. It was weird how he did that, he managed to go beyond taking the words out of my mouth and went straight to the words that clung to my soul. And he didn't even need to look into my eyes in order to do it. It was like some rare ability that he had just acquired like a third nipple, or an extra limb. He was special.
