I had been spending a lot of time with Cece lately and most of the time it was because I couldn't shake her. It would be a quiet Saturday at home hair up, sweat pants on, and a long session with Netflix.
Somehow she'd pop up and it turned into another trip to some expensive kiosk at the mall or a little boutique on streets I couldn't pronounce. I mean I was starting to burn through my paychecks too fast. I was starting to be too expensive for my after school job at the library. It always made me curious how Cece was able to afford her spending habits and she'd always reply that her dad pays for most of it and shrug. I had never met her dad, nor heard too much about it.
The one time I tried to ask to go to her place it was like I had just slapped her in the face. But she said her family was very 'private' people. So I just shrugged it off. But the way we walked around spending made me feel like one of those valley girls that my friends and I used to make fun of. I certainly wasn't one of those girls, at all.
"Here it is." Cece smiled and opened the doors to the small clothes store boutique. I was freezing. It was officially winter but the snow hadn't started to fall yet. It had been windy as all hell. It even made it hard to walk. And here was Cece strutting through it in a pair of heels to shop. Even thouh it felt so severe, it looked like just a really cold fall day out. I had decide to wear my cap and black bomber jacket and a choker. I didn't exactly 'fit in' inside of this place. Even the mannequins had a snotty face on. "This is the store that we'll be modeling for, and the photographer will be here soon plus this place has the most badass shoes." She said. But badass didn't really fit this place, it almost made the word sound foreign."Hello ladies, I'm Candice, do you need any... help?" She eyeballed me.
Cece saw this exchange and cut in. "We're Cece Wynn and Zailie Diaz the models,"She squeezed my arm knowing I was seconds from saying something 😒.Cece pointed at the tripod, lights and huge white backdrop behind ropes of to the side of the store. Candice's face lit up almost apologetically.
"How can I help you ladies?" She smiled.
"Right now just pair of shoes. Until the photographer shows up." Candice escorted Cece to their shoe department, towards the back of the store. I started to walk around being that I had spent all of my paycheck on a dress for this dance coming up. And to be honest the only person I wanted to go to the dance with, was Alex. Cece said I should consider Tyler but that is almost impossible. Although he and I had a bit of a moment at the beginning of the year party but I can't see him as more than just a jock. A jock who loved me. I looked at myself in one of the changing room mirrors, I could see why love wasn't so far to reach.
I'm not trying to be cocky or anything but I did look pretty, I mean I was literally here to model. My chestnut hair turned a dark burgundy color and my tall figure I was stunning.
