I got home soaked from the thunderstorm, and Alan said since Aiden had no ride home he could stay in the guest room. Later, Aiden had called his parents to tell them what was going on and they said okay. Hopefully this night doesn't go the way I've been imagining it. Starts of with me training and ending with me smashing Aiden's head into the ring's mat, multiple times. I'm not the most optimistic person.
I changed into my robe, and made my way to the shower, bringing alone my crop top and shorts. After a quick shower, I went to my room. On my way there I was feeling a little light headed so I got some Advil from the kitchen first.
Once in my room, Alan came to check on me. He came and kissed me on the forehead, as soon as he removed his lips from my head he placed his hand there.
"Honey, your burning up." He left and walked back in with a wet rag. When he placed it on my head I felt some what relieved, though it didn't take away my light headedness, it did cool me down however. "You are not going to school tomorrow."
"But I have too. I'm fine promise." I cracked a sad half smile.
"I had an appointment in Philly tomorrow, But I can cancel it. I'll stay and take of you, you need me more." He looked a little sad about missing the appointment, I had no idea what it was but he really wanted to go.
"No Alan, go. Make your appointment, I'll be fine. I'll call Kayla or something."
"She has the flu. Nemesis, I'll just stay and watch over-," he was cut off by a familiar voice breaking our conversation.
"I'll stay with her, watch over make sure the fever doesn't go up." He looked as though he really cared, but I was really doubting it.
"No, no. Aiden you have school tomorrow. Seriously, I'll just -," Aiden cut him off again.
"Its not like I haven't missed a day of school before. I'll get my mom to write a note. It'll be fine, promise."
"Really?"Aiden nodded. "Thank you so much. If you ever need something just ask." Alan's grin was so wide, I thought it might split his face. "But I'm staying over night so, never mind."
"Its fine, Alan, really. This is partially my fault anyway. I'll take care of her and when she gets better we'll go to school." Aiden's eyes gleamed with excitment, for some odd reason.
"Fantastic, I'm going to pact." Alan ran out of the room enthusiastically. Aiden turned to me and smirked.
"Looks like I might find answers to you, just yet." He turned to leave but didn't make it to the door before I said something that stopped him in his tracks.
"The answers you receive you may wish you never got. I'm complicated for a reason, not just because I want to be." I looked at his back through my eyelashes. He as still facing the door so his back was all I could see. The muscles in his back tensed and he turned to look at my flushed face. Wondering what I had done, I looked at him confused. "I'm just stating a fact. I am hiding many things and if you don't stop digging, I'm telling you now, You may not like what you find. I lose many people to the true, so I just don't tell it any more."
"Then how do you know who really cares, if they don't even know you?" His jaw was tight and his teeth clenched.
I was confused as to why he was mad, but I answered his question none the less. "Because if they did know me they wouldn't care." With that I turned on my side and let silent sad tears fall from my eyes. Probably noticing I was don't talking to him, His footsteps retreated out of my bedroom.
Since Aiden said he would stay with me, Alan left that night instead of in the morning.
* * * *
The headlights blinded me and the truck hit my mother's side of the car. She was dying and nothing I could do would stop it. When I tried to scream nothing would come out, and when I tried to help her but couldn't move. It was like I was there but I wasn't. Her last words echo through my mind.
"Nemesis, don't forget you are my daughter and I LOVE YOU!"
The roof crushed her and I was finally able to scream. I let out a wail so loud the people in Mexico could hear it.
I sat up so fast, I was drenched in sweat, and I was gripping my sheets for dear life. My door flew out, and there stood Aiden clutching a vase What was he going to do with that? I'd have a better chance by myself. He saw me and his eyes widened to the point where they might fall out if his sockets.
Running over to me it looked as if he may fall, because he kept stumbling. When he did reach my bed, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest. "Shhhh, shhhh. Nemy you're fine, you're okay. It was just a nightmare." His soothing words calmed my nerves and for the first time in a while I felt safe. His hand rubbed my back in circles, relaxing me. I loosened my grip and pushed back a little.
"Thank you. Sorry I woke you, you should go back to bed." I pulled him in for one last hug and then watched as he left out of my room, looking extremely worried.
When my door clicked shut, I turned on my side and fell back to sleep. I hadn't had that nightmare since I was twelve. My dreams were memories of my and my mother's accident. I didn't wake up screaming again, but I didn't get much sleep.
Sunlight shined through my window. I'd forgotten to shut the curtains and so the sun was in my face. Aiden walked into my room with breakfast and Advil. I sat up against my back board and he put the food on my lap, then placed the Advil in my hand.
"I didn't know the bad boy had a soft side." I gave him a crooked grin.
"Only when there is something I want. And right now I want answers." He looked stern, that is not going to get you anywhere. "What was with the screaming? What was your nightmare about?"
"Nothing, I was fall off a cliff. It was just one of those dreams, you know." I shrugged and started eating my pancakes.
The look he gave me would have had anyone cowering, but I wasn't anyone so I just looked at him. "Don't lie to me Nemesis. I saw the way you looked. Remember I can in the room? I'm not an idiot."
"Aiden, just drop it," I sighed. Placing the tray, that was now empty of food, on the floor. I stood up a little dizzy, my fever had gone down though.
"No, Nemesis, I will not drop it. Why won't you tell me?" I tried to walk out the door, but he got a hold of my arm.
"Aiden, I'm giving you a warning. Let go of my arm." I stated calmly.
"And if I dont? What are you going to do?" He rose a questioning eyebrow.
"You asked for it." With that I grabbed the hand on my arm and ripped it off. Not letting go, I flipped him so he landed on his back. "I warned you."
I walked out of the room and walked down to the tv room. Flopping my body on the couch I grabbed the remote and put on my all time favorite show, Once Upon a Time.
Aiden walked in right when Henry shoved his heart into Peter pan. Just as Pan flew up in the sky and everyone rushed to Henry, Aiden clicked it off. How dare he touch my tv, it's mine and I was watching something.
"You will tell. The good girl always falls for the bad boy. That is how the world rotates," he fell on the couch right next to and put his arm around my shoulders. He smelled really good, I would have put my head on his should but this was Aiden so I pulled it from around me. This boy was known for his games, and don't plan on being a piece in one.
"Who said I was a good girl? And I thought it was the other way around anyway. Doesn't the bad boy fall for the good girl? Yes that's it." He laughed.
"Aren't you a good girl? And it looks like I'll have to prove you wrong." He shrugged and stood up.
I also got up and I put my hands on his chest. I stood on my tippy toes, because he was taller then me, and brought my lips close to his, but didn't let them touch. I stared straight into his eyes and said, "I'm up for a challenge."
