I was stunned. No words could leave my mouth and my mind was on overdrive, trying to think of ways to weasel my way out of this one. Think Nemesis before he catches on!
Just as I had thought of the perfect lie his eyes widened in recognition.
"It's you. No it can't be." You could tell by his face that major wheels were turning in his head.
"Aiden?" I sighed, trying to sound carefree. "What are you mumbling on about? We were only talking about Alan returning to fighting." My fingernails were digging into the mat I was now sitting up on.
"I knew your eyes looked familiar, I saw them my first downtown fight. You saved me. When I was beat up by Ghost, she hit me just like you did before." He took a couple steps forward and held up an accusing finger at me, my breathe hitched. "Ghost got punched in the left eye last night. When did you get your black eye, Nemesis?" He raised a question eyebrow at me.
"Look, Aiden. The thing is-" He cut me off.
"Don't even try to lie. I know exactly where you got it and so do I." He looked hurt and u nodded. "This explains so much. How you know so much about the fight. How and what you hit so hard. It even explains how your Ghost. She never stick around after winning a fight, no one knows where she live. How could I not put two and two together? I'm an idiot." Aidens eyes filled with rage and hurt. My heartached for some unknown reason, I never wanted those feelings directed towards me, especially from Aiden. "Why did you never tell me?!"
I was shocked from the hurt in Aiden's voice, and it made me want go and hug him. Never did I want Aiden to be mad at me. Um... What was I thinking I shouldn't care how he felt towards me. But I did. "Aiden. let me explain-"
Again he cut me off. "No, just leave me alone Nemesis. Live your life and I'll live mine." He turned and stormed out of the gym entrance just as the regulars began to pile in. Just as he left I ran to the door but there was no sign Aiden was even here.
At that moment I realized one thing. I wanted Aiden in my life, even though he could be as annoying as a three year old, but he was mine. Right now I just wanted to scream it in his face, but I knew he didn't wants and he never would.
Slowly, I walked back into the gym with my head down. I went to my room and changed. Throwing on my hoody, I ran and ran and ran. I came across some street fights that weren't in the system of Alan. These were the more dangerous ones, the ones were you don't win until the other person is unconscious, there were no rules. Right now I needed a fight and this was the only one I was going to get at five in the afternoon.
I stocked over to the huddle of men and push some of them aside. Just as I moved to the middle, one of the fighters went out cold. The man still standing raised his hands and the crowd went wild.
"Who can take me on!" the man yelled and no one stepped forward. I looked side to side and when the wind howled by I moved to the center of the circle, where the man stood tall and smug. When he saw me step forward and a little fear crept into his eyes, but quickly he covered it up.
"So I guess you've heard of me? By the look you recently had in your eyes, I assume you know what I do." I sighed, and stood taller since I had been slouching.
"So Ghost, you think you can beat the best ruffing up street fighter." The man raised an eyebrow and smirked, so cocky. A lesson needs to be taught and I think I'm the best person to do it.
"I know I can. The question is, can you handle it?" smirking I took my hoody off, here I didn't have to hide and I like it. I through my hoody on the ground and when I turned back to face the man he was already lunging for no. couldn't call him because there was no rules here.
