Dipper opens his eyes at the sunlight draining through the window. He doesn't wake up, though, because he never fell asleep. Dipper sighs, rings under his eyes.
Mabel sits up with a yawn.
"Morning, Dippingsauce," Mabel yawns, tossing a pillow at him. Dipper grunts and sits up.
"Morning..." he yawns sleepily, rubbing his face.
"You look like you need some sugar!" Mabel notices.
"Yeah, I don't think so...just some sleep would be nice," Dipper sighs. "I think you transferred your sleep troubles to me. You've...had sleep troubles lately, right?"
Mabel glances up, surprised.
"Yeah. Yeah I have," Mabel answers carefully. "But they're fading now,"
"Good...that's good," Dipper says. "What were your nightmares about?" Dipper questions.
"Oh...just...random scary things, you know!" Mabel laughs. "No biggie, heh!"
"No biggie, yet it kept you up all night?" Dipper inquires suspiciously.
These were some of the questions that kept him up all night.
"Just...a nightmare of a zombie, typical generic nightmare," Mabel replies.
"Oh...okay," Dipper says, plainly.
"Let's get breakfast, shall we?" Mabel smiles, getting out of bed.
"I guess..." Dipper mumbles, yawning again and sliding out of his covers.
Is she hiding something? Dipper thinks. No, you're just being paranoid again.
They sit at the table with Stan, eating scrambled eggs on toast.
"You awake yet, kid?" Stan asks, glancing at Dipper who is laying his head on his arms, his plate pushed back.
"Yeah, totally. That's why I'm laying my head down right now," Dipper grumbles.
"I sense sarcasm," Stan says.
"Awe, are you okay, Dip? Need some Mabel Juice?" Mabel comforts.
"Yeah, that might help, actually!" Dipper says, grinning.
"See, I knew Dipper would admit it was useful someday!" Mabel says, smiling. "I'll get it!"
"You're cleanin' it up!" Stan yells after her.
Dipper is walking around outside, bored. He pulls out his journal, when he hears a "mew". He glances down under his journal, and sees Mew, his cat, at his feet, meowing.
"Hey, uh, kitty," Dipper says, surprised.
He pets it, when images of Mabel falling out of a tree and Stan letting him keep this Mew in the shack flash in his brain all at once. He pulls his hand back, and rubs his head.
"Augh," he mumbles. "So you're...Mew...?"
Dipper sits right there on the ground, closing his eyes, trying to collect himself. Mew crawls on his lap, concerned.
"And you're...my pet," Dipper sighs. "My...Waddles, Mabel said, right...?"
Mew licks his face, worried.
"You're a good cat," he says, smiling slightly, through a big headache. "How did I forget you...?"
Mabel walks out to the scene, Mew curled up on Dipper's lap, while Dipper is rubbing his forehead.
"He must be remembering," Mabel mumbles. "Yes, this is good!"
She skips over to him.
"Sooooo, Dipper, hanging out with that cat again, huh?" she smiles.
"Mew...his name's Mew," Dipper smiles, his headache calming down. "But you know that, right, because you were there?"
"Of course I know that!" Mabel says.
"Wait, no you weren't, because I just met him..." Dipper mumbles, his head beginning to hurt again.
"Dipper, you got it right, bro. You feeling okay?" Mabel asks, placing her hand on his shoulder.
"Maybe I'm just going crazy," Dipper sighs, standing up. "And maybe I need some of that Mabel Juice!"
"It's ready!" Mabel says, dragging him back to the shack. As Dipper is being dragged, he sees a shadowy figure in the trees. He doesn't notice at first, but when he realizes and looks back, it's gone.
Gray sits in her room, tears threatening to fall.
"No letter yet," she sighs. "I didn't think Mabel cared that much about her dumb bro. I thought once she was full of all that prophecy power she wouldn't care,"
She sighs, re-reading Mabel's last letter to her.
"I mean, I knew Dark Mage would go a bit crazy. And I knew White Mage would stop her and Mabel would get the power," Gray says. "I thought it'd all work out,"
She hugs her pillow and sucks on the lollipop Mabel gave her in that letter.
"How could I make it up to her...?" Gray whispers to herself.
"So, you're tellin' me the plan failed?" the yellow triangle asks, sipping some red tea.
Dark Mage replies, "Well...yes. We were going to get his journal after taking their life energy, along with the prophecy's energy. But...you don't understand the bond those two have--"
"Oh, trust me, Mage Number One! I know more than anyone!" Bill laughs. "Whatever, water under the bridge! Just as long as you have a back-up plan, or the deal is off!"
"Uh...you see, my sister is...acquiring her dark form," Dark Mage stutters. "And also...the boy...Pine Tree, has a...brain malfunction,"
"I see," Bill laughs, floating around her.
"And, so, I was thinking we let his own mind tear him apart, to where he feels like he can't trust anyone," Dark Mage continues. "And when that happens, he gives us your precious journal. After that we kill him, take his life energy, maybe even Mabel's, if you wish it helpful. Then I'll kill White Mage and take hers. With mine and your power combined, we'll be able to do almost anything,"
"Pretty juicy, pretty juicy!" Bill comments, thinking.
"And I know we could just find a way to take the journal from him...but I thought you might want to see him go insane," Dark Mage grins.
"You thought well, Magey! I've wanted to see their bond torn for a while now!" Bill laughs.
"So, we're still...good?" Dark Mage asks, holding out her hand.
"Oh yes, this is great! Maybe even better than the first plan!" Bill says. "At least, entertaining-wise!"
She smiles and they shake hands.
Dipper lies awake at night again.
"Ugh," Dipper sighs. "Shut up, stupid brain! Nothing is wrong here!"
Mabel has been more secretive, hasn't she? Dipper thinks.
"No...it's fine," Dipper mumbles to himself.
Every time I try to look for a new mystery to solve in the journal, there are notes there that already provide the answers! Dipper thinks.
"The author could've had a helper with different handwriting," Dipper reasons. "Handwriting...coincidentally similar to mine."
Even the ones that don't have answers feel unexciting...like you've already done them! Dipper thinks.
"I don't know, okay!?" Dipper yells, sitting up.
Mabel rolls over, rubbing her eyes.
"You...okay..." Mabel yawns, opening one eye.
Dipper sighs, laying back down.
"Sorry, Mabel, just...can't sleep. My brain won't shut up," Dipper grumbles.
"Like usual!" Mabel smiles. "Night, get me up if you need something!"
"Mabel, have you ever felt that feeling like...you've done something before, even though you clearly haven't?" Dipper asks. "Sorry...I know it's weird, it's probably just me,"
"You mean...déja vu?" Mabel says.
Good quick-thinking, Mabel! Mabel thinks to herself.
"Yeah, that's probably it..." Dipper says.
This feels different though. Dipper thinks.
"Night, Mabel!" Dipper says. "Thanks for putting up with my confusing thoughts,"
"Haha, it's what twins are for!" Mabel winks.
Dipper pulls the covers over his eyes and lies awake, even more questions filling his brain.(Note: intensity level is climbing! Hope you loved it!! Comment, vote, and whatever you feel like, dudes! Wove ya!
