Mabel runs into the lobby and collapses into a chair. She covers her face with her hands and cries.
"Uh...Mabel?" Wendy asks.
Mabel sits up, surprised. Wendy is sitting on the other side of the room in a chair. Wendy stands up and walks over.
"Oh...h-hey, Wendy," Mabel mutters.
Wendy takes a seat next to her and pats her back.
"Hey...what's up?" Wendy asks.
"Just...worried about Dipper," Mabel sighs. "He's getting hurt...all the time,"
"Hey, it's alright," Wendy comforts. She pauses.
"To be honest, I'm pretty worried about him myself. If he keeps going like this, he'll be dead...again...like, before Summer's even over!" Wendy says. "But...that's what makes Dipper Dipper. He enjoys this adventure stuff no matter the casualties. So we just gotta be there for him in the good and bad times,"
Mabel sighs.
"Thanks, Wendy," Mabel says.
I can't be there for him if I can't even hug him without almost killing him!
Mabel thinks.
Wendy gives Mabel a hug, and Mabel accepts it willingly.

Stan walks out from the bathroom and joins them, though now they're both sleeping; Wendy laying her head up against the wall and Mabel laying hers on Wendy's shoulder. Stan sighs.
"These kids," Stan says. "No matter what I do, I can't keep 'em from the supernatural weirdness of this place,"
Stan glances at Mabel's sleeping face. Peaceful, yet troubled.
"What am I gonna do," Stan sighs, face palming.

Dipper wakes up from his slumber yet again. He slowly starts remembering what just happened. He sighs, filled with sadness.
"Oh, Mabel..." he sighs.
"Hey, the doctors are coming soon. They aren't gonna be able to cure these welts, only light magic can. So let's do this quickly," White Mage says, once again appearing right beside him.
Dipper screams again, jumping almost out of his bed.
"Ugh...go ahead," Dipper says.
White Mage conjures up light magic and places it wherever there are welts. Slowly the welts fade, just like White Mage's welt when Dark Mage slapped her.
"There we go, they'll be fully healed in a few days or so, and your fever should go away by then too," White Mage says. "That often happens when a dark mage is at a higher level than a light mage. At least during your first year of learning magic, since you're both not used to your powers yet. Soon, her presence alone will make you feel nauseous,"
"Can't you...make a spell or something that helps with that?" Dipper pleads.
"Sorry, no," White Mage sighs. "I gotta go...good luck on your journey,"
Then she disappears.
Dipper sighs, and shoves his face into his knees.

A few days later, Stan, Wendy, Mabel, and Soos show up in the hospital waiting room, after receiving a call from them saying Dipper was ready to come home.
They wait anxiously, and finally, the door opens and Dipper walks out. He has a few bandages still, but looks a lot better. Dipper smiles.
"Dipper!" they all yell, running over to him and hugging him. Well, all of them except Mabel.
"Guys, guys!" he laughs, trying to hug all of them back at once. "I missed you too!"
Dipper sees through a gap in a hug Mabel standing at the other side of the room, looking at the ground sadly.
Dipper frowns.
"Do I need to lock you up in your room the rest of the summer!?" Grunkle Stan says.
"No, thanks!" Dipper laughs.
"Dude, I'm so glad you're alright! We need to have some bro time back at the shack!" Soos says. "Pterodactyl Bros for life!"
"Haha, yeah! Pterodactyl Bros!" Dipper laughs. Then he glances back at Mabel's gloomy expression, concerned.

Dipper is back at the shack, watching a Ducktective marathon with Soos, chomping down nachos and cheese.
Mabel has been up in her room all day.
Dipper tries to keep positive, but inside he's extremely sad and worried about Mabel.
I need to talk to her. Dipper thinks.

It's night now, and Dipper is brushing his teeth. He leaves the bathroom, and once Dipper is out, Mabel goes in quickly to brush hers. Dipper frowns.
Then she rushes out and into their room.
Dipper sighs and shakes his head, following her.
Mabel is already in her bed under the covers. Dipper climbs into his bed.
"Hey, uh...White Mage said this should only last a year. Or until we both are used to our powers," Dipper murmurs.
Mabel grunts.
"Goodnight, Mabel," Dipper says.
There's a pause.
"Goodnight," Mabel replies.

A few days pass, and Dipper and Mabel go back to practicing their spells far away from each other, so they can be ready for the threat, and so they can maybe speed up the getting-used-to-our-powers process.
Dipper continues to practice the spells he already knows since he can't learn anything new without his magic book, and Mabel is on the brink of level 7.
"Mabel, this is awesome!" Gray squeals. "I've never witnessed someone learning this quickly!"
"Yeah, I guess," Mabel replies, bummed out. "I don't know if I wanna reach level 7, I'm not in the mood!"
"Hey, you still bummed out about not being able to hang out with Dipper?" Gray asks. "Honestly, I would hate to have to hang out with that human every day!"
Mabel glares at her for a second. Gray gulps.
"Sorry, I just still don't like his face much,"
Mabel sighs, and replies.
"Well, yeah! I mean, we're twins! We've never been separated this long!" Mabel grumbles. "Of course I'm bummed!"
"Just remember, the more you practice, the sooner you guys will be able to hang out again! And the same goes for him," she says. "You may wanna know...he's been practicing day and night. He's as bummed about this as you are,"
Mabel glances up and sighs.
"If Dipper can do it, so can I!" Mabel says, standing up. "We are going to hang out soon!"
"That's the spirit!" Gray shouts, high-fiving her.

Soos walks up to Dipper who is taking a break outside, drinking some Pitt cola.
"Hey, dude! What's goin' on between you and Mabel?" Soos asks.
"Oh, hey Soos...it's nothing," Dipper sighs, taking another sip, looking pretty depressed.
"Listen, it's pretty obvious...you and Mabel are usually stuck like glue. Or on Mabel's terms, glitter glue," Soos says.
"We're just going through some stuff right now," Dipper says. "Nothing you can help with this time,"
"Alright, dude. But remember, if you need a friend to help out, Soos the handyman is here!" Soos smiles, pulling out a red screwdriver.
Dipper smiles.
"Thanks, Soos!" he says, feeling encouraged. "You've helped a lot already, more than you think,"

"You've helped a lot already, more than you think,"
