Dear Mabel, my long lost friend,
I really miss you, as I've explained in every letter. You're probably sick of hearing from me by now.
Please write back whether you want me to stop or not.
I just need to vent, and don't know who else to go to, who else I trust, though I know you probably don't trust me now.
My sister has been acting very different to me. I'm afraid she will harm me soon. I don't know why, but she's been staring at me sadly...but then sometimes, she'll be staring at me angrily. It is random and I can't find any pattern.
Sorry for lack of stickers and excitement; I don't feel like myself anymore.
Don't feel bad--I understand why you hate me. I'm starting to hate myself.
Sorry again, don't mean to be depressing.
-Gray  (-_-)

Mabel slowly lowers the letter, eyes wide in shock.
"I...I didn't mean to hurt her that much," Mabel mumbles, tears welling up in her eyes. "I've made a mistake...oh Gray, I'm so sorry!"
Mabel immediately goes to work writing a letter back to her.

Dear Gray (the friend I didn't mean to hurt!),
I am so sorry it took so long to bring myself to open one of your letters.
I consider myself to be a very trusting person, but I guess when I get shaken in that way, it takes a bit for me to get back up.
But that is no excuse for me! I didn't realize you were in need of a friend. I think it's high time we become pen-pals again! And I really miss you too!
I've made some pretty big stupid decisions as well lately, so how about we forget about them together, huh?
Please write back soon!
-Mabel ('_')

She puts it in an envelope and finishes it off with a cat sticker that says, "I'm sowwy, I really hair-balled that up!"
Mabel rushes down stairs and places it in the mailbox, putting the flag up.
She waits.
And waits.
And waits.
Finally, it vibrates, and she opens it up. Her letter has successfully disappeared.
She smiles, and waits again.
     Dipper walks outside.
"Still...waiting on that letter...?" Dipper asks, pausing to take a sip of Pitt cola.
The moon is out, the stars shining.
Mabel sits on the ground, head tucked in her knees.
"Yep," Mabel sighs. "Sooooooo bored!"
"You've been waiting for hours. How about you call it a night?" Dipper asks.
"I can't," Mabel mumbles. "It's complicated,"
Mabel hears footsteps, and then feels someone brush against her side.
She lifts her head and looks to her left.
Dipper has taken a seat next to her.
"You don't have to wait with me," Mabel says.
"Whatever you're dealing with may be complicated, but this is one thing that isn't," Dipper says. "I'm waiting with you,"
Mabel widens her eyes, and Dipper smiles.
"Dipper...?" Mabel asks, looking into his eyes.
"Yeah?" Dipper replies.
"N...Never mind," Mabel says.
For a moment I thought he was back. Mabel thinks.
Dipper takes off his vest and drapes it over her.
She smiles.
"Thanks, Dipper," Mabel sighs.
"U-Uh, no problem!" Dipper replies, awkwardly scratching the back of his head, timid yet again.
Mabel lays her head on his shoulder. Dipper pats her back, and eventually, she falls asleep.
Gray Mage lays on her bed, rings under her eyes.
"Nothing, not even candy fills me with joy anymore," she sighs, sniffing. She hears a knock on the door.
"Yeah...?" Gray asks.
"It's your sister, Dark Mage," Dark Mage replies.
"Come in, I guess," Gray replies.
Dark Mage opens the door and steps in.
"You been holding up all right?" Dark Mage asks.
Gray glances up in surprise.
"I thought you were still mad at me because of what I did to help Dipper and Mabel," Gray states.
"I am," Dark Mage grumbles. "But I can't help but notice you've been mentally and physically...weak,"
"Yeah, I'm kinda depressed," Gray mumbles plainly. "You ever been depressed before?"
"I am the Dark Mage, of course I've been depressed," Dark Mage says. "Anyone would at some time or another after being in the dark as long as I,"
"I don't know what to do," Gray sniffs. "I feel like the only thing that could make me laugh right now is Mabel,"
Dark Mage scowls.
"Well...let me make it easier for you," Dark Mage says. "And...I'm sorry,"
Dark Mage stabs Gray in the back with a dark spear.
Gray screams, tears already starting to spill.
"Sh, please, don't," Dark Mage whispers, closing her eyes. "It's already hard enough, especially killing you,"
Gray Mage moans on the ground, slowly going unconscious.
Dark Mage hears a vibrating noise, and turns to see the mail box in Gray's room shuddering.
She walks over and takes the letter out of it. There is a sticker on the front that says, "I'm sowwy, I really hair-balled that up!"
Dark Mage rolls her eyes and burns it with black fire.
Meanwhile, Gray whispers a spell with her dying breath before darkness consumes her.
     Mabel wakes up, yawning.
She looks up, surprised to see a bright, blue sky. She sits up.
"Ouch, I'm so stiff!" Mabel grumbles sleepily, rubbing her eyes. She glances down and sees she was sleeping on Dipper's lap.
Dipper is laying down on his back, still sleeping.
Mabel smiles, sighs cheerfully, and suddenly remembers to check the mailbox.
She does--still no reply.
She sighs.
"She probably doesn't forgive me," Mabel thinks negatively, sighing.
Dipper yawns, and sits up, painstakingly.
"Ever...get...your...letter?" Dipper yawns, stretching, eyes adjusting to the light.
"Nope," Mabel sighs. "But thanks for being my pillow last night!"
"I don't think my lap was much of a pillow," Dipper says, standing up.
"Yeah, it was more like laying on a couple of twigs!" Mabel jokes. "Let's get inside and let Stan know we're alive!"
Dipper nods, agreeing.
"So, Stan...family, right?" Dipper asks.
"Yeah, he's our Grunkle! Though we haven't seen much of him lately," Mabel replies. Suddenly, they hear a meow.
Mabel turns quickly, to see two cats emerging from some bushes nearby, sleepily.
"Oh. My. Goshness. Two cats in need of homes!" Mabel squeals, running over and picking them up.
"And...this Grunkle, will he like that?" Dipper asks, pointing towards the two new cats.
"Probably not!" Mabel laughs. "Let's go!"
She runs inside, hugging the cats to her chest, Dipper trailing hesitantly after her.
