Coffee was filled with caffeine.
A stimulant that caused mental awareness.
An ingredient that helped with migraines and sometimes jet lag.

For me, coffee made me super sleepy.

Robino and I entered the small diner in the middle of the village. Above the door, a little bell rang. Inside the small diner was a large front counter, blue cushioned booths and black steel tables that looked attached to the floor.

I stood at the front of the resturant by the counter while Robino walked on ahead taking a seat in one of the booths.

He turned around in the seat and gave me a questioning look. He got up and walked over to where I was standing.

"What you doing TICK?"

"I said to stop calling me that. I'm waiting to be seated."

He gave me another look before rolling his eyes. "Dude, this is not a five star resturant. Just come sit down."

I followed him to the booth and sat down while he tried to get the attention of the waitress.

She swayed her hips gracefully as she walked over to our table. Her black hair bounced on her shoulders at every step she took. Her lips were colored with a dark red lipstick that made them look even more kissable. What excited me the most was the way her pupils lit up when she looked at me.

"Hi." She said looking exactly at me. Her scent was distracting. "I mean good afternoon. My name is Evan. I'll be your server today." She finally looked away from me and gave eye contact to Robino.

"Mate." I said under my breath. Robino looked at me in disbelief and she looked confused.

"Excuse me?" She asked.

"I said great! That's great."

"Can I start you off with a drink?" Her eyes once again were focused on me.

"I'll take a water for now." We were having major eye contact and it felt intimate.

"What? No! Get him a coffee." Robino said interrupting us.

"Shut up." I said in his mind using the mind link. He jumped around wildly looking for the source of the voice and it seemed as realization dawned on him that it was me when he slowly turned to face me.

"Calm down. You're going to scare her." I continued.

"Trust me, I just want a water." I said to Evan. It seems as if Robino's abnormal behavior didn't bother her at all.

"I'm guessing you want a coffee?" She said to Robino with a smile. He just nodded his head and she walked away to get our drinks.

"How did you do that?!"

"Mind link." I answered casually.

He looked around bewildered. "Can you teach me how to do that?"

"Alerick is the only one that can pass on the trait and I'm not sure he would do it for you." I answered honestly.

"Right. Right. You know she's human right?"

"Who?" I asked. I had a feeling he was talking about Evan but I was hoping not.

"Your mate. Yea. She doesn't smell like us." My heart fell as soon as he said that. I knew Evan smell was different; I was just realizing how so.

"No. No. No! That's extremely rare for a werewolf to have a human mate and it's a sensitive subject. What if she doesn't know about the world of werewolves? What if she's not ready to find out? What if..."
