Hell

Evan

"What is going on?"

I was in the kitchen, in the middle of making a sandwich, when the guard had grabbed my arm sending bread and pieces of meat flying.

"What the hell?" I stood in my place and pulled my arm from his grasp. We were almost to my room but I wouldn't take another step if he didn't tell me what's going on. "My mother told me to never make a man hold you in a way you didn't approve of."

"I'm sorry Miss. Thorpe. You have a visitor waiting in your room. She says she's family." He continued leading the way to my room.

"Family? I don't have any family." He opened the room door for me and her blazing red hair was the first thing I saw.

"And to think your response used to be 'Diane is my only family' " Diane said in an amused state. She sat in the middle of Gary's and I bed and for some reason that irritated me.

I heard the door shut behind me as I stepped into the room. "Diane, you know what I mean. I honestly wasn't expecting you to be back here."

She hopped off the bed in a true Diane nature and into my arms. I hugged her back tightly because I did miss her but her visit here was unsettling for many reasons.

"What are you doing here?" I pressed trying to be polite as possible.

"We're going home so I just came to help you pack. Nice room by the way."

"I can't leave." I knew she heard me but she ignored what I said. She walked into my closet and waddled back out with a handful of my clothes.

"Diane. I cannot leave." I said again slowly.

"Sure you can. Mother actually asked about that. Can you believe it? She wants her daughters home." She dumped the clothes on my bed.

"That's your mother."

Diane looked stunned by what I said for a second but she shook it off. "She raised you!"

"No; maids and nannies raised me. Raised us. All of a sudden you want to claim that your mother is actually a mother." I was appalled at what she thought could convince me to go home. "I get that I didn't have my own mother but neither did you."

"I didn't come here to fight. I just want to go home." She was playing with the hem of my dress. A dress Gary gave me.

"And I'm telling you I can't leave but you're pretending you don't hear me."

She dropped the cloth in her hand and marched over to me. "I hear you but I just can't understand. You're my sister."

"Please understand that I want to stay here with Gary." I smiled at the thought of him. "This is my new home."

"You ungrateful bitch!" Diane was outraged. "After all I've done for you, you're going to toss me away for a guy you met less than a month ago."

"And you're a rich brat that always gets what she wants. You don't know how to handle rejection. Well I'll say again for you; no."

"So you rather stay in the freaking castle with all these mutant humans than return with me?"

She knew. I didn't tell her. She knew I was a werewolf.

"What do you mean by 'mutant humans'"? I said trying not to offend her. I think she realized her mistake because she remained quiet. "Diane?"

"The people in this castle," She whispered. "They're werewolves."

I made an internal sigh. She didn't know as much as I thought she did.

"Are you serious?" I whispered back. "Wait why are we whispering?"

"They can hear us." She continued in her hushed tone. "Remember how I told you I was doing research? Well that's what I found out. But don't worry Evan, after we leave everything will be taken care of."

I raised my eyebrows in suspicion. "Taken care of?"

She giggled out loud but talked in a whisper. "Dead Evan. They will all be dead."

I was done whispering. "What do you mean by dead?"

"Shh" She shushed me.

"No don't shush me. Tell me what the hell is going on."

"You might want to sit down then."

"I think I'll stand." I said determined.

"Okay well. I found out they killed our parents. I mean your parents."

I pretended to be shock for her sake. I already knew this.

"Don't you see Evan?" She was whispering again. "I'm getting revenge for your parents. For anyone else who was hurt. For you."

"What did you do Diane?"

She looked around the room before responding. "Have you ever heard of the disease called Distemper?"

I felt my heart break into a thousand million pieces.

"You didn't."

"But I did. It was easy. Well the injection and spreading part was. Finding a werewolf was very hard."

"You didn't Diane."

"It's easy when someone wants to sleep with you so badly. Just inject them in their sleep. Did you know the disease is highly contagious and fatal yet one hundred percent preventable?" She didn't care about whispering anymore. She was loud.

"These stupid wolves probably thought they were invincible. Should of gotten their vaccine. Finding wolves that were traitors of their so called Kingdom was too easy. They were willing to do it for free. It's almost laughable."

And she did. She laughed while I stood still. She laughed about killing people. Just because one made a mistake of harming my family years ago, innocent ones had to die.

She grabbed my face between her hands and pulled me close to her face. I jumped back from her.

"What are you doing?"

"I just thought that we would.."

"You just thought after your declaration that we were sisters that we would kiss? You thought I would kiss you after admitting something as horrible as that? You just thought I would betray the love of my life Gary Mathews like that?"

"The love of your life? You just met him! And I'm doing this for you. Why can't you understand that?"

"Get out of my castle before I call the guards to have you arrested at once. And once you leave Diane, you better run. You better run far away because if a 'mutant human' catch up to you, they're going to rip your throat out with their mouths."

"You knew, didn't you?" She asked. "You knew they hurt your family and you're okay with it?"

"Goodbye Diane." She walked through the door I held open and I slammed it shut after her. I did the only thing I could. I cried because even though I hated her right now, she was my only family. I didn't want to see her gone too. Maybe one day we'll meet again and I will be able to forgive her.

But for right now, she can go to hell for all I cared.
