Evan

"What is that noise? Is that an alarm?" I yelled over the loud noise.

"Intruder alert!" Gary yelled back. He was running around the room looking for something. Even in a panic, he looked handsome. "You stay in the room. I'm going to check it out. Make sure you lock the door."

He grabbed my face so I could look in his eyes; I always tended to look away from him. It wasn't because I was shy or intimidated by him, it was just the thought that he was too good to true. If I looked him in the eyes, I would fall for him and I didn't know if I was ready for that.

"Evan, stay here. I will be back for you." I nodded my head in understanding.

He ran out the room and I followed him and locked the door. I threw myself on the bed and sighed.

Yesterday he told me about the conversation he had with the Moon Goddess. I wasn't mad, or sad that I had to have a demon wolf living inside me. I was shocked. Relieved that it was gone. I didn't want it back I told him.

I just felt like Gary didn't tell me everything; he was keeping something from me.

The alarm finally stopped and I sat up in the bed when I heard a knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

"It's Erica. Gary sent me for you."

I opened the door to see the Queen in all her glory. She was glowing and I don't think it was just because of her pregnancy. We walked out the room together.

"They have found the intruder. No scent which is weird." She admitted to me. I nodded my head pretending to understand what that meant.

We walked downstairs to where everyone else was. In a trap, held in cuffs by the legs, was a huge wolf. I felt panic rise in me.

"Woah." Was all I could muster.

"I'm so sorry." I heard Gary's voice behind me. He began rubbing my shoulders to calm me down. "I thought they would have made him shift before you got here."

He pulled my back against him into his chest. My face grew hot but I pretended it didn't bother me.

"Shift!" I heard the King command. The fur on the wolf began to shrink. The paws began to go away. The ears that were twitching grew smaller. Everything on the wolf began to disappear until he was naked.

I turned my face into Gary's chest to avoid the sight.

"Robino?" I felt Gary's chest vibrate as he spoke. "What are you doing here?"

"You said I could come at anytime." A familiar voice responded.

"Yes. As a normal person, not lurking around the premises in wolf form. And could someone please get him some shorts? His nakedness is making my girlfriend uncomfortable."

My heart began to drum happily in my chest and I think Gary heard it because he looked down and smiled before whispering "Yea. My girlfriend." in my ear.

"Gary? You know this male wolf?" I heard the King ask.

"Yes. I met him in the city the same day I met my girlfriend." I smiled into his chest at the word before turning around and facing the intruder.

It was the same male that sat across from my boyfriend that day in the diner.

"He's no harm." Gary continued. "What is it Robino?"

"The whole town is sick. Coughing and sneezing. Quite disgusting frankly."

"We need an empty area where they will all be able to shift in peace because we can't evacuate them here. Then we will be able to give them the shots." The second King said. I couldn't remember his name at the the moment but my boyfriend told me he was the second one in charge.

"Wait, wouldn't that mean that you're sick too?" Someone spoke up. Everyone in the room visually took a giant step back from him, including me. But I mostly did that to be closer to Gary.

"No, I have wolfsbane."

"What?" The King sounded outraged. "What does that have to do with anything?"

Robino didn't look affected by the King's outburst. I was and it wasn't even at me.
"I have wolfsbane in my bloodstream. It protects me from things like the illness."

I saw the King turn to the Queen and she shook her head gently before walking away. The King followed her but not before saying "Punish the trespasser."

"Wait! I came here to warn you."

"Warn us of what?" The second King asked.

"The members of your Kingdom. They are purposefully spreading the illness. I overheard some of them."

"Why would they do that?"

"Because some one is paying them to. It's very anonymous. I don't think they know this illness is killing them slowly." Robino said.

"Why should we believe you?"

"Because I accept whatever is my punishment for trespassing." He looked at Gary and nodded his head. "Without a fight."

"I believe him." Gary said pulling me back to him. "Put him in the dungeon until we figure out...somethings."

Huge males pulled Robino away from the room and everyone else retreated back to their respected areas except for the second King and his wife. I still wasn't able to bring myself to say mate.

"What do you mean until we figure things out?" The second King yelled. I shrunk into Gary's chest.

"Calm down Kent. He was obviously telling the truth."

"Obviously? How would you know that? It's just like you to make impulsive decision like that."

My face crinkled in confused. I couldn't see Gary making any hasty decisions.

"Kent!" His wife yelled at him.

"When Alerick is not around, I'm in charge." The second King/Kent made himself clear.

Everyone's body went rigid.

"Gary?" I asked scared. He didn't respond, just stared ahead. "Gary?"

"I'm sorry darling. What was that?"

"What's going on?"

"Alerick was telling us that he met with the doctor."

"The origin of the disease was found." Kent's wife spoke up.

"It was originated in Mal'ady City."

My face fell flat. Mal'ady was the city that Diane and I left. I couldn't be the cause. Could I?

"He thought the doctors found the cause but it was just a false alarm."
