Resurrection and Connection

*Sasuke’s P.O.V*

I was starting to wake up over the sound of crying and I felt a weight on my stomach as I started to regain my sight. My eyes started to open slowly as I looked at the person that was weeping on top of me. And just as I thought, it was Sakura that was on top of me.

“Sakura…it’s hard to breath with you on top of me.” I said in a weak voice.

But that didn’t help; she just screamed my name in my ear while also yelling about me being alive and then started to hug me which only made the pain worse.  Even as I complained that it hurt she still didn’t move. If anything she probably squeezed me harder making the pain worse.

 “Hey Sakura! You might want to let him go before you end up killing him.” I heard yelling and automatically recognized the voice.

I started to sit up to see where she was while Sakura was yelling at me not to move, but at least she got off me. When I was able to sit up all the way I saw Mononoke sitting on top of the railing of the bridge with her body facing out to sea but she watched us with an unreadable expression while looking over her shoulder at us.

“Well well, he can move already.” I heard her say in a voice that matched her expression.

After that I didn’t hear anything else from her, but I did see her lips moving. She was facing something next to her, I couldn’t see it though so I can only assume that is what she is doing. After a few minutes of that she just nodded her head and walked over to us, with her hands on her hips and an unchanged expression…but also covered in blood.

“Okay, pull the needles out of yourself and I’ll fix you up. Got it?!”

“Since when do you give orders?” I said while smirking at her.

She just rolled her eyes but didn’t say anything before she walked over to Tazuna. Again when she approached him, she didn’t say anything. In fact neither of them said anything. They both just stared at each other with blank expressions. Mononoke was the first to break eye contact and after that she just walked off. 

I ended up brushing it off as nothing but for some reason it kept bothering me. So I just asked where Naruto was and about the masked guy to get my mind off it, and was surprised to find out the masked boy was dead, and Naruto was fine. Sakura didn't tell me how or what happened beyond that so I was left with a blank.

Then Sakura started to talk about how I was cool for some reason and that she knew I would pull through, but all I could think was about that masked guy. He never wanted to hurt us, from the very beginning but did everything he could for Zabuza. But then I started to hear laughing and looked up to see Mononoke snickering while trying to cover her mouth.

"I'm sorry." she said still laughing, “but I never heard of anyone living because of coolness. That just seems really stupid." She said not even bother to hid her laugh now.

I didn't blame her for laughing though. It was stupid after all. It's just the way she laughed that bothered me. It just seemed so different. Whatever was going on with her I honestly prefer how she usually acted instead of this. It's strange but I was actually starting to like her personality the way it was a lot, and this...it just seems wrong.

 I ended up watching her as I got up with Sakura's help and she showed Naruto that I was alive. I waved at him and then started to get confused when Sakura pointed to Mononoke saying that she was alright too. She didn't get in the fight so of course she was fine, right?

"Sakura what are you talking about, with Mononoke?" I said giving her a confused look.

"Oh well uh...you see in the middle of the battle, something happened. Kakashi-Sensei said she was attacked by some type of gen-jutsu and her heart stopped. She was like that for a while and we all thought that she had...you know, but then she just got up and acted like nothing happened...but.....she's been acting strange since then." She said as she looked over at Mononoke who was now standing alone by the bodies of the dead workers we saw when we first got here.
