I woke up to the smell of bacon, yum. "Morning everyone," I smiled, waving as I climbed out from my tent. "Morning," they replied. I went and stood with Kitty, and Sky followed. "Hey you ok?" She asked. I nodded in response whilst making a bacon butty, "I'm good." We sat down and I slowly ate it, "well I'm officially 18 and one day." I huffed.
"Yeah and you're still 3 months and 5 days younger than me, make that 6," she laughed, nudging my side. I finally decided I wasn't that hungry after eating one sandwich. "Hey Sky, you like bacon?" I whispered. He barked a response to say yes, and I slowly slipped him the rest of the food on my plate, he winked and I did so back. "You two are crazy." Kitty sighed, shaking her head. "What, I can't show my guardian a little respect?" I asked in a low whisper, pretending to be sassy, she just laughed and put her paper plate in the bin. "Girls remember to pack everything as we have to leave by 3!" My mum shouted he reminder as we walked towards the tent. "Ok mum!" I called back.

"How about we start with belongings then sort out beds?" Kitty suggested, I nodded in agreement. "Hey Sky, pass your lead over here would you?" I asked, pointing at it.
"Why do I need it anyway?" He complained. "Cover up, people might get suspicious if there is a husky walking without a lead in public, unless it's in a park or somethin." I responded. He growled to show his frustration with being put on a lead and tossed it over. "Thank you, now go wander, you deserve better than to be sat in a boiling tent." I said, pointing towards the thermometer hooked to a piece of thread that hung from the top of the tent. "It's 22 degrees in here, Sky. Go, it's an order, and get a drink." I watched his movements, or lack of,  wanting the best for him. "Are you sure? I am supposed to stand by you as your guardian and all," he asked.
"Sky I'd go if I were you otherwise she will lecture you about taking care of yourself." Kitty  finally chipped in, he nodded and left. "Thanks K" I smiled at her.
"It's fine, now lets get these airbeds sorted." she said undoing the plug to let the air out. I did the same and we rolled up our sleeping bags. "You know what? I'm glad I told you about what's going on," I spoke up, looking over at her again. "Me too, now we can research it together." She agreed, ever the curious person. Eventually, we finished packing and put our bags in the car ready for later.

"So, you wanna go back to 'the waterfall'" I asked, Kitty looked at me weird then had a moment of realisation and mouthed 'oh'. "Sure!" She squealed with excitement, and we went off towards it, we walked through the woods and over the bridge. Next were the rocks, but they were different, "watch yo...."
"AHHHH, CRAP!" I heard Kitty scream. I turned to see her hanging on the edge of the cliff, instantly moving to get close to her. "Hold on!" I screamed, tears in my eyes as I tried to get to her. "HELP! ANYONE! PLEASE!" I screamed, reaching out for my best friend. "SKY!" I shouted, it was returned with a howl. "Kitty, it will be ok, I swear, don't look down, just keep your eyes on me." I assured, reaching out again, although I was terrified inside. "Lexie, I'm slipping!" she cried.
"Lexie, get away from the edge!" came another voice.
"SKY I CAN'T, HELP!" I cried. I was now flat on the floor reaching as far as I could. "Lexie, be brave, you can get through everything I believe in you!" Kitty began to speak out of nowhere, her voice calm. "No! Stop it! We will help you!" I cried more as her hand slipped. "You will always be my sister." Now she cried too, tears were now streaming from both our eyes. "y.." she slipped, all I saw was her falling then a loud thud was heard, "Kitty, no..I need you! You weren't allowed to die! You can't be.." I collapsed with grief, looking at the ledge she'd cling to seconds ago. Sky pulled me away from the edge, then all I saw was darkness, "No....no...no." It was all I could say, even after I heard Sky run off. The next thing I knew I heard loud barking and footsteps, "Lexie!" I heard my mum shout. My dad picked me up and my eyes shot open. "Kitty, she...she." I sobbed the tears falling. "Shh, shhh, its okay, you're going to be okay." My mum promised, hugging me. "I shouldn't have asked her if she wanted to go, we should have gone the long way round." I stammered, burying my head into her shoulder. Its my fault. All of it. I looked around, and saw Sky. I whistled and he came over to me, "I'm sorry," he whispered so my mum couldn't hear, then he threw his head back and howled into the sky. "We have called her parents, her body will be taken for funeral preparations." My mum informed, "I was thinking we could leave now and visit them." She suggested, I nodded, they must be even more upset than me.
