Chapter 1: The Wasps
"Rush him to the hospital right away; he's going to slip into a coma," the doctors yelled at each other. My brother was rushed into an ambulance unconscious while I was grabbed by my father and put into the back seat. My brother had always been allergic to wasps and I mean deadly allergic. Well, we found a wasp nest in our living room, but my brother had not known. He was only five years old, but he loved throwing baseballs up and down and then catching it. My brother was throwing a ball, like usual, but instead of just the ball coming down so did the wasp nest! 15 wasps stung him. My mom heard my brother screaming and crying in pain and she called my dads name telling him to get me in the car as she grabbed my little brother.
When we arrived to the hospital, people took notice of a little kid screaming, but did not know what was going on but I knew it worried me. My brother was put on a bed and rushed into a room where we could not go into. My mom was crying and my dad was holding my mom telling her everything was going to be alright, but the thing is nothing was going to be alright.
Later that night Dr. Davidson came and said, "I am afraid there was nothing we could do." Then, all the sudden I felt my heart racing knowing what he was going to say, " There were to many wasps that had stung him which caused swelling in his throat," he continued, "we tried everything that we could, but unfortunately he didn't make it." I fell to my knees and tears started rushing down my face. I gave the doctor a look of fury, but he went away before I could say anything. The pain that I felt had been the worst pain ever, I had felt so much guilt for the times I got mad at him or said he was the worst. I didn't know what I would do with my life, I was alone.
Two days later I was sitting in my room and my mom came in "Lacey, are you ok with going to school--"
But then I gave her a look and then asked, "Is dad going to work today?"
My mom answered back, "Yes." Then that was all I said for a while. I honestly was a little mad that my dad was going to work the day after my brother, his son, died. I dont know how a person could do that, it seems so cruel. If my mom asked me a question, I would nod or just wait for her to leave. Later in the afternoon my mom told me that my friend called and said that she is having a birthday party this Friday, which was two days away. I told my mom I would go so that she would leave me alone. I really didn't want to go because I felt so sad.
It's Friday and I'm still not ready to go to school, but I was still going to my friends birthday party because my mom already told her I would.
When I got to the party, all of my friends showered me with hugs and questions. I told them I didn't want to talk about it and they understood. It was hard being around people that I was once happy around. My best friend in the whole world was the only one who understood me when I had a problem, but she couldn't even help me get through the pain of loosing my little brother. I was alone.
