My heart pounded as I walked down the hallway. On my left was my mother, and on my right was King Vance. The King was fumbling his fingers over the cuffs of his suit, and his eyes scanned everything as if it would attack him at any moment.
I asked, "Are you alright?"
King Vance looked at me like he just remembered she was there, "Yes I'm just nervous I guess. My son is getting married after all." He tried to smile, but it was forced.
We walked in silence, and then we stopped outside the doors to the ballrooms annex. This room is where everyone in the royal family has been married. It was connected to the ballroom where the reception will be. Everything was ready, and all they needed was our signal that we were ready.
The King put his hand on my arm, "May I talk to you privately my dear?" His nervous look has been replaced with what looked like shame.
I nodded, and he led me over to a bench on the other side of the hall.
The King took a deep breath, "Sylvia, I want you to know that I never did anything to your brother or your father. I didn't even know your brother was in our dungeon until the guards told me that he had escaped. Then, when you first met me I didn't know why I was so bent on you marrying Jasper. I don't even remember anything that has happened in the past few years. I think someone cast a spell on me. I don't know who, and every spell that I have cast has shown me nothing. Do you think you could try something? I want to know who did this to my kingdom."
I sat there stunned. Suddenly, I felt a rush of heat envelop my body, and I saw a dark moon in front of me. I blinked the image away, and when I looked at King Vance I saw a light radiating from his body.
I smiled, "Don't worry it wasn't you that killed my father, or put my brother in jail. I don't know who it was, but I can see a brightness surrounding you. Also, I would like to tell you that I am proud to be called your future daughter-in-law."
The King beamed, and pulled me into a hug. I was happy to have made things right with the King, but now there were new questions in my mind. Who really did those things to my family, and where are they now.
We stood up, and walked back over to my mother. She smiled, and held out her arm, "Are you ready princess?" I smiled, and nodded. We heard the music start, and the doors opened. The room was magnificent. The left wall was all stained glass windows with the royal seal right in the center. People sat in pews made out of dark stained wood, and white velvet cushions. The end of every pew was wrapped in red roses and vines. The isle way was white silk, and it led us to the most magnificent alter ever. A traditional arch wrapped in white silk stood tall with red roses wrapped in it as well. On one side were my bridesmaids wearing red dresses that just touched the floor, and the tops were skin tight with long sleeves the dropped slightly at the wrist. They carried a bundle of white roses held together by red lace. Behind each of them was a crystal vase that held white roses. On the other side were the groomsmen wearing traditional black suits with red ties. The best man was Mason, and he had on a red bow tie instead of a regular tie. Behind them were the same vases the bridesmaids had. Everything seemed to be perfect. Even Jasper looked handsome in his black suit with metals showing his accomplishments, and his white tie. He wore the kind of cape that princes wear, but the only thing that was different about him was his aura. It wouldn't come out clear. It blurred, and was slightly darker than usual. Also, I didn't feel the usual attraction that I usually felt towards him. That's when I remember what Charlie told me. My amulet would let me see the lies before me.
