Once home the couple made the announcement to all their friends they were engaged. All Ariana's friends were proud of her and happy.

"How's Riker doing?"Ariana asked Rydel.

She smiled "He's better, back to his old self again."

"That's good." she replied and that's all she could say.

Fall had come and that meant the kids were home and back to school. They wouldn't speak of their summer with their father but by the way they smiled and seemed happier Ariana knew that they had a good time.

"How's wedding planning going?"Mary asked after she got home from school.

Ariana shrugged "Its a lot easier then the first time."

"That's good." she said and taking a seat next to her mother "Mom, do you regret leaving dad?"she asked

Ariana was a little shocked by her daughters question but smiled and shook her head "No I don't."she said truthfully "He meant the world to me and still does but it's better this way."

"Do you miss him?" she asked after a silent moment

Her mother nodded "Everyday but, I've learned to let go."

Five years it had been since Riker had seen Ariana he had heard the news Ariana had married Grant and that they were happy with a family and a child, they had also moved back to California but he didn't know if it was true. Riker as well had married and had a child from what Ariana had heard.

"Honey we have to go our dinner reservations are in twenty minutes." Grant said running a hand through his thick hair.

Ariana came out of the room looking beautiful in a dark blue dress and flats, with her hair curled and little makeup. After bidding the children goodbye they left. Once they arrived at the restaurant Grant opened the door for his wife and helped her out.

"Thank you."She smiled and he nodded happily at her.

"I still can't believe I have you."Grant said kissing her cheek.

As they approached the restaurant Ariana noticed it was one that Riker use to take her to all the time. And at that moment she hears Rikers laugh. She seen a little of his blonde hair and stopped walking. He was with a women with long curly auburn hair and a little girl. The little girl looked a lot like him with blonde hair and brown eyes. Riker stopped what he was doing when he seen Ariana.

"I'll meet you inside" Ariana told Grant and kissed his cheek

Riker told the women something and she walked away with the child. Slowly the two approached each other.

"It's nice to see you again." Riker said the words carefully and softly

Ariana smiled "You as well."

"You look beautiful Aria."he said

Holding in the tears she thanked him "You look very happy with them." She bit her lip "I'm happy, I've found someone to. He makes me happy."

"I see how happy you are. I'm glad you got what you really deserved." Riker said

"I better get going. It was nice seeing you Riker." she said.

He nodded and kissed her cheek before walking away. Ariana joined her husband and never lost her smile.

"How was it?" Grant asked

"Better then expected. There is good in goodbye after all." Ariana said smiling still

Goodbye had made the two stronger and happier. As bad as things were and as bad as the divorce hurt the two things turned out better then ever expected. Even though they promised to be together forever and always, it still existed in their hearts. And nothing would ever change it.
