Fake Smiles

#5: New Jersey

Lily woke up to the sound of Grayson's alarm. She pressed dismiss and turned to face Grayson. He was still asleep, his arm wrapped around her waist. She lightly shook him. "Gray" she whispered. He didn't wake up. She tried a few more times, but he still wouldn't wake up. She tried to move, but his grip was too tight. She sighed and cuddled up next to him. '5 more minutes wouldn't hurt' she thought. She drifted off to sleep.

Ethan woke up and pressed dismiss on his alarm. He got out of bed and made his way into Grayson's room. When he entered, he saw Grayson cuddling Lily. They were both asleep in his bed. He knew Grayson wouldn't wake up straight away, so he went to the kitchen and got a glass of ice. He walked back into the room and tipped the ice on Grayson; no reaction. He got cold water and poured it over the two. They both shot up, gasping for air. Ethan was laughing his head off.

"HAHAHAHA! You should have seen your faces!" He said in between laughs. They looked at him with a glare. They got out of bed and got ready for the day. Grayson wore a greeny coloured shirt with black jeans and his black vans with his beanie. Lily wore a white shirt, black legging and her boots with a few bracelets and her beanie. Ethan wore his black ADIDAS shirt with grey tracksuit bottoms with his black vans. Their flight was at 7am, so they left their apartment at 5. Ethan called for an uber. They packed the car and drove to the airport.

When they arrived, it was 6:50am. They went through all the procedures and got on the plane. Lily sat by the window, Grayson sat next to Lily and Ethan sat next to Grayson. They waited for the plane to take off. Lily slept the entire flight; she slept with her head on Grayson. Ethan fell asleep and Grayson woke him up and doing something stupid to him. Grayson fell asleep for about an hour with his head on Lily.

Grayson and Lily woke up to Ethan shaking them. They had landed. They got off the plane and walked to get their belongings. As they were walking, they heard squeals. They saw a big group of girls walking towards them. Grayson and Lily began to panic. Ethan smiled at them. Grayson looked at Lily, then at the girls, then back at Lily.

"Ethan?" Grayson said. Ethan looked at Grayson. "We haven't got time! I don't want them swarming Lily! We need to meet mom and go straight home! We can't meet them! We need to go! Now!" They began to pick up the pace and began to walk past the group of girls. They all started fangirling. They saw Lily walking with them. That's when it all went wrong.

"Hey, Grayson?" A fan asked. "Who's this? She's copying you with your beanie!" Lily began to panic. Her heart was pounding against her chest, her palms were sweaty. Grayson squeezed her hand, reassuring her. "She shouldn't be copying you!" The girl walked behind Lily and ripped the beanie off her head. Lily began to panic. Gasps came from the group of girls. Grayson took his beanie off and gave it Lily. The gasps were louder.

Grayson walked out the building to see his mom. When she saw him, she was shocked. Ethan and Grayson hugged their mom. Mrs Dolan saw Lily. She smiled at her and put her hand out. "So you must be Lily." Lily shook her hand. "I'm Grayson's mother."

"It's lovely to meet you Mrs Dolan" Lily said with a smile.

"Grayson! Put her things in the trunk and let's go!" Grayson put Lily's things in the trunk as Lily got in the car. Grayson got in after. As soon as he shut the door, they drove home. As they were arriving home, there were two people waiting outside. They got out the car and the twins greeted them. Lily walked up to the girl.

"Hi, I'm Cameron. I'm their older sister" the girl introduced herself. She shook hands with Lily. Lily smiled at her.

"Lily, Lily Lovegood."

They brought their belongings in the house. Lily was told to put her belongings in Grayson's room. She was walking up the stairs, already out of breath. "Where will I be sleeping?" She asked, half way up the stairs. Grayson was leading her to his room. Ethan was behind her so she doesn't fall or drop anything.

"In my room."

"What about you?!" She exclaimed. "Where will you be sleeping?!" He ignored her and led her into his room. They placed their belongings in the corner of the room. She caught her breath and looked at him. "Where will you be sleeping?"

"In Ethan's room!"

"Wait! What?!" Ethan exclaimed. He had just walked in the room. He had put his things in his room. "You're sleeping in my room?!" He asked in disbelief. Grayson smiled at him. Ethan shook his head. "Great!" He said in a sarcastic tone.

"What's wrong with Grayson sleeping in your room?" Lily asked.

"One, he snores! Like, really loudly. He sounds like a pig! Two, he takes up a lot of space and my bed isn't that big! So, he'll be sleeping on the floor! Three, I don't like him sleeping in my room!" Ethan argued. Lily giggled at him. Grayson just sat on his bed, shaking his head.

"Food's ready!" Cameron yelled up the stairs. Everyone made their way into the dining room. Mr and Mrs Dolan were sitting on either end of the table and Cameron was sitting next to her dad. Ethan made his way next to Cameron and Grayson led Lily to her seat; she was sitting next to Mrs Dolan and Grayson was sitting next to his dad.

"So, Lily" Mrs Dolan started. "How old are you? I'd like to know what makes my baby happy! I'd like to know you better." Lily smiled at her. Grayson turned bright red from embarrassment.

"Okay" Lily replied. "I'm 16, I live in L.A and I met Grayson through my therapist.  I have depression, which I feel is going away! Um... my parents died in a car accident and I'm diagnosed with cancer." Everyone looked at her in shock, except from the twins. "I don't think there is anything else I can say about myself."
