Fake Smiles

#20: Best Birthday

Lily woke up in Grayson's arms. She smiled as she remembered what day it was. Not only was it Tuesday. It was her birthday. She was so happy. It had been 8-9 months since Valentines Day. It was early November.

She carefully climbed out of bed, trying not to wake Grayson. She had a quick shower then began making breakfast for everyone. She was disturbed by Ethan walking into the room. He smiled as he sat at the table.

"Happy birthday!"

"Thank you!" They stayed in silence while she made breakfast. She placed the food on the table. Ethan filled his plate and began to eat. Lily walked into Grayson's room and attempted to wake him up.

"Gray?" She whispered. She shook him. She sat on him as she shook him. Eventually, he woke up. The first thing he saw was her. He smiled at her. "Morning sleepy head!"

"Morning" he replied in a a raspy voice. He wiped his eyes as he sat up. She had her legs wrapped around him. He placed his hands on her waist. "Happy Birthday!" He kissed her. She smiled into the kiss.

"I made breakfast!!" She said as she broke the kiss. She got off him and pulled him out of bed. She led him into the kitchen where Ethan was eating the food. They sat down and began eating.

"So what are we doing today?" Ethan asked.

"Dunno!" Lily replied. "Shall we go to the beach?" They agreed and went to get ready. They left to the beach. They had packed everything and left.

They found the perfect spot on the beach. They placed their belongings in their spot and made their way to the sea. They swam around for a while until they got out.

As they were going back to their spot, they heard girls squeal. "Oh my God! It's the Dolan Twins!" They yelled. The twins stopped and smiled at their fans. Lily sighed as she walked to the towels they had brought. She sat on the towel as she waited for the twins to arrive.

They arrived and joined her on the sand. She smiled at them. "Sorry" they apologised. She lied and told them it didn't bother her. She felt that it was wrong to say she hated them speaking to their fans. It's selfish!

They walked around L.A and explored the city. They went to a fair that was happening. They spent half of the day at the fair. They went on almost every roller coaster. Grayson was running around while Ethan walked at the same pace as Lily. Grayson kept taking them to games and winning Lily prizes. He won her a huge teddy bear and a small dog.

Eventually, he held her hand as they walked around. They went to a pizza place for lunch. After that, the twins took her to the park. They played on all the activities, acting as if they were five. They were all laughing and giggling. Lily stopped and breathed. She had a huge smiled on her face as she sat down. She watched as the twins ran around.

They joined her on the swings. "I am so lucky to have met you!" Lily admitted. They smiled at her. "Thank you for everything you've done for me".

After a ten minute break, they made their way back to the apartment. They began to watch more movies on Netflix. By 6pm, Grayson was cooking everyone dinner. They sat at the table together.

After eating, they took Lily to the Hollywood sign. They slowly made their way up the hill. Grayson had offered to carry her, but she refused. They reached the top as the sun was setting. They stared at the view and watched the sun disappear beyond the horizon.

Eventually, the stars were shining in the night sky. The lights of L.A illuminated the night sky. "Lily?" Grayson asked. Lily turned to him. He pulled a piece of paper from his pocket. "I know you said not to, but Ethan and I wanted you to be happy. We've had help from family and friends. We were able to afford this". He handed her the paper.

She slowly opened the paper and read the information. The treatment for her cancer has been paid. She stared at the paper. Tears started to form. She pulled Grayson into a hug and kissed him. She hugged Ethan after. "Thank you so much! I could never repay you!" She exclaimed as she wiped away the tears.

They pulled her into a group hug. She cried as she hugged them. They stayed in that position for a few moments. They broke the hug and she smiled down at the papers.

They stayed up the hill for a while before deciding to go home. They arrived at their apartment and went straight to bed. Lily cuddled up to Grayson as she fell asleep.

She woke up to an alarm. Pressing dismiss, she fell back asleep. She woke up again to Grayson shaking her awake. She smiled at him. "Wakey, wakey! Today's the day! We've got to go to the hospital for your treatment!" He said.

She smiled as she buried her head into his chest. "I don't want to leave this position".

He laughed. "Come on!" He pulled her out of bed and into the bathroom. "Take a shower and then meet me in the kitchen". He left her alone.

After the shower, she entered the kitchen to see the twins making breakfast. She smiled as she sat at the table. They all ate breakfast and got ready to leave.

They left the apartment and drove to the hospital. They arrived and walked through the doors.
