Sirius arrived at the airport early and was dismayed to learn that the flight was also early by almost forty minutes. He searched for a half hour for her and looked for a telephone to call Remus at work, as he didn't want to worry Lily. He learned the name of the hotel where she was supposed to be booked and decided to look for her there.
Sirius was stopped at a traffic light just around the corner from the Leaky Cauldron when he noticed a pretty girl sporting a long, albeit messy, dark brown pony tail with a rucksack waiting to cross the street. He stared at her as she crossed in front of him and noticed her leather jacket and Durango boots. She looked over toward him and tilted her aviator sunglasses down, smiled as she looked his Durango boots and nodded her head; she sensed that he wasn't a man to be trifled with. He seemed fierce and withholding. He nodded his and kept his head facing forward, but his eyes followed her until she stopped just before stepping up the curb and turned sharply to the right and ducked behind a parked car.
Sirius looked in the direction where the girl was looking and saw two men with wands duck into an alleyway; his suspicions were instantly confirmed when they had just barely fired off a stun spell; if she stood up, the girl would be in the direct line of fire. He revved the bike into a wheelie and moved the bike to where the girl was and laid it down to a screeching halt, almost beneath the car; he had to keep her down and he was filled with dread. Still, she popped up from her hiding place and looked toward the alley, held up her hands and shouted, "STAY!" He reached up to pull her back to him to keep her from being hit.
When the bolts of light didn't materialize nearby, he raised his head and his eyes grew wide at the spectacle before him: the wizards that were just outside the alley, were frozen in place as if having been stunned themselves and Sirius peered around the back of the car and watched completely dumbfounded that the stun spells had been stopped in mid-flight just hung in mid-air losing energy by the second as they faded from view.
"How did you do that? You've no wand!"
"I'm not sure. It just seemed like the right thing to do."
"Merlin's beard, you're American."
She all but ripped her sunglasses off her face and when he actually held her in his gaze, did he actually see just how pretty she was. "Yeah, and you're not," she replied sharply.
"Hey, I meant no disrespect." He held up his hands in defense. "Your flight was early, you see?"
"Yeah, so? Hey, how did you know that?"
Sirius chuckled and unbuckled the strap to his helmet. "I'm your transport. Remus and Lily sent me." He removed his helmet and sunglasses then smiled the most charming smile he could muster. He looked so familiar to her, but she couldn't remember where she'd seem him before.
"You?" She looked at the tall helmeted young man up and down. "You're a wizard?"
"That I am."
She suddenly remembered a photograph that Lily had sent of her and her friends and thought he was a gorgeous specimen of human male physiology then..and now, having seen him in person, she was blown away. She gazed into his silvery-gray eyes and he quickly looked away toward his bike and swallowed hard. "Oh gods! You're Sirius Black!"
Upon gazing into her sage-colored green eyes again, he watched them change color to hazel and realized that this was no ordinary witch, or girl for that matter and found himself in the midst of a colossal dilemma: he could see losing himself to her; she was exactly the kind of girl he'd go for. He realized instantly that he had to keep it together....keep it cool...and more importantly, keep his distance...he had teased Remus for years that he'd steal her away from him because she was as pretty as he was, but he simply didn't have it in him to hurt his friend in such a way...
