Chapter 5

Alec's POV:

It had been a couple weeks since I first started dating Magnus and he already knew so much about me, which is likewise on his side as well. He told me about his ex- girlfriend, Camille, who was apparently a bitch. I had met his friends, Ragnor, Caterina and Rafael. I had also met his cat, Chairman Meow, who was the fluffiest cat I had ever seen. Magnus said that Chairman isn't  one to get along with humans but he was surprisingly cosy with me.
Although it had been 5 weeks already and we had kissed many times before, I still get a sinking feeling when he does kiss me.

I was on my way to Magnus's house to surprise him for his birthday. He told me that he always had massive parties but this year he wanted to spend his birthday with me. He thought I was working today and only had time in the evening but I asked my boss for an off day. He agreed with it as long as I worked a couple extra shifts.

I was outside Magnus's apartment with a box that held his present in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other. He had told me where he kept his extra key incase of emergencies, it was under the door mat.

Magnus's POV:

"Camille, get out of my apartment!" I shouted at the dark skinned girl who just stared back at me with eyes filled with lust.
"No Magnus. You need to know that I still love you and I have ever since the first day I laid eyes on you." She replied, stalking closer and closer to me.
"I'm dating someone, Camille. You really do need to leave now. We were over years ago."
"I know," She said. "I know you're dating someone, you really do have a type don't you? And I know that you think we're over. But we're not. Fate brought us together in the first place, and it's fate that's brought us back together now." She said, pushing me against the wall. I tried to fight her but she was strong.
"No, Camille. Fate didn't bring us back together. You're the one who show-"

Alec's POV:

I finally get the door to open after much struggle. I take on step in and freeze in my place. Magnus was against the wall kissing Camille. I drop the flowers. Not knowing what to do, I stood there. Paralysed.

Magnus noticed me stood at the door and pushed Camille off of him.
"Alexander, it- it's not what it looks like." He said with shock in his eyes. And still, I stood there and said nothing.
"Alexander, please. Say something..." There was a moment of silence.
"How- how could you? Magnus I- I trusted you." I looked at him with clear discussed all over my face.
"It really isn't what it seems," He replied with a defensive tone.
"Th- then what is it like Magnus? Because I would really like to know." He stood there. Not a word said.
"Hello Alexander, I'm Camille. What a pleasure to finally meet you." The dark haired girl said, raising a hand as if asking for mine. Completely ignoring her, I stared straight into Magnus's eyes.

"I can't believe you." I said shaking my head. "You don't even have the nerve to stand up for yourself?" Not a word. "Great. Well I hope it was worth it." I said as I turned around, ready to storm out. "Oh, and Happy Birthday!" I said as I threw the box that was clutched in my hand straight to the floor, landing directly at his feet the box broke and I stormed out. Pure rage circulated through my veins as I stormed down the stairs and out of the flats.

Magnus's POV:

As Alec stormed out he threw a box at me that broke directly at my feet. A ring tumbled out. A thick silver ring with engraved lines going all the way round. On the inside was engraved the word 'promise'.
It was a promise ring...
