Alec's POV:

I was on my way to pick up our wedding suits from the tailor, who had to add slight alterations to the lengths and what not.

"Hi," I said as I leaned over the receptionist table. "I'm here to pick up two suits, one for Alec Lightwood and one for Magnus Bane."
"Give me a sec," The receptionist said as she opened up a book and looked up the names. "Ah, hear they are." She said pointing at a number in the book. "227 and 228." She rose out of her seat and walked along to hung up suits covered with a protective layer of opaque black. She trailed her finger across the black fabric, searching for the right ones. She picked up two and brought them to me. She put them down on the couch in the waiting area.
"Are these them?" I asked in anticipation.
"You tell me." She said as she unzipped the protective later revealing a floral suit in one, and a black one in the other. A smile sat upon her face.
"Yep, these are them. Thank you." I said as I handed over the money, the price of which was discussed earlier.
"All yours." She zipped up the fabric and handed it to me. "Oh, and congratulations."
"Thank you." I replied and left the shop with a ring of the bell above the door.

I was walking down the road as I got a text from Magnus:
Hey, did you pick up the suits? How do they look?
I started to type and replied:
Yeah I got them. They're perfect. xx
Then I put my phone back in my pocket. I turned to cross the road and checked either side. The road was clear. I started to walk, suddenly, I heard the roar of a cars engine getting closer and closer at a fast pace. I started to run but it was already to close and then-

The pain was unbearable. My eyes were glued shut. As I felt the concrete against my back, I pried my eyes open. The left side of my face was squashed against the floor. I put my hands to the ground to give myself support, shattered glass pierced through my skin. Every move I made sent a stabbing pain through my whole left side. I finally got up with much struggle. People surrounded me and my head started to pound. The chatter was faint, covered b a loud buzzing noise. My ears hurt so bad, it was as though I had gone deaf. I took one step forward and collapsed yet again, my head hit the ground, hard.

Magnus's POV:

"What?! No, no no no. Is this real?"
"I'd do anything to say no." The voice said over the phone.
"Oh my God! No!" Tears started to stream down my face. I fell to the floor, phone pressed against my face. How could this happen? I was fully sobbing down the phone at this point. It hurt, it hurt so bad. I brought my hand to my stomach where it hurt the most.
"Sir, I'm sorry. But we really need you to come down to the hospital."
"O- okay," I said wiping the tears with my sleeve. Makeup appearing on the shirt. "I'll be there."

I ran over to the woman sat at the desk, the tears started again. This time they were even stronger.
"I- I'm here to- to see Alexander Lightwood." I said between breaths.
"What relations do you have with Mister Lightwood?" The woman asked, not even concerned by me crying. Then again, she must be used to it by now.
"I- I'm- we're engaged."
"Okay sir, I'm going to need you to sign this." She said handing over a piece of paper with a bunch of writing, which I ignored and signed at the bottom. "He's in room 58."
"Thank you!" I started to run down the hallway she directed me to, checking the room numbers as I went along.

I finally reached it, room 58. I stood at the door for a moment. Gazing through the window I noticed a battered and bruised Alec. My face was completely covered in tears now. His left eye swollen and black, his lip cut. I couldn't believe my eyes.
"ALEXANDER!" I screamed as I ran into the room, catching the attention of the 2 doctors in the room with him. I pushed past the doctors, grabbed and hugged Alec. I fell to my knees and put my hand on his chest. My eyes were sore and blurry but I was too distracted to wipe them. My hands moved to cup the unconscious Alec's face in an attempt to wake him up.
"Alexander! Alec! Please, please please please. Wake up! Alec, I need you! Wake up!" Nothing. Just the beeping of the monitor by the bed. "Come on! Come on come on. Please! Don't leave me!"
"Sir, we need you to leave the room."
"I'm not leaving!"
"Sir, we need to run some tests on him."
"I said, I'm not leaving him!" I screamed at the men stood behind me. I felt an arm grip my shoulder, then another grip my other shoulder. I was being dragged out of the room.
"NO! GET OFF ME! I'm NOT leaving!"

I was on the other side of the now locked door. I stood up and pressed my face against the glass.

Alec laid there, motionless. Almost dead.
